30th Anniversary

It just dawned on me the other day that this is the 30th Anniversary of "Eye of the Tiger" and Rocky III...Damn!

I was visiting my parents house and I took my family to this old lake where I always hung out as a kid...Sitting there Tiger came on the radio and was blaring out of the speaker...I was thinking that is where I first heard that song and it hit me, it was 30 years ago....

Time really does fly in a great deal of ways....It was a moment for sure....

Where did that 30 years go?

I'm not sure what you disagree with. Isn't it a clear the Survivor or FS feels a sense of entitlement? Isn't it a clear that hard core fans who have followed the band for years have been taken for granted? Am I missing something here?

Maybe I confused your comments and the original sentiment, but I feel the band and FS does VERY much so, owe something to the fans for being patient and hanging around all these years.

Sounds like we had a communication breakdown. We are on the same page here. As a fan of the band, I feel completely taken for granted.

I wouldn't begrudge the band retiring and not putting out new music as long as that's what they said they were going to do. What is maddening is the promise of new music with no new music. As a fan is sure as hell burns time after time of being promised something that never happens, or happens years after it was promised.

It's kinda of like being in an abusive relationship. "I promise I'll be better..." Yeah, right...

But we keep holding on to hope that they will get better at delivering on the goods. Until then, we'll go on powdering over the black eyes and bruises we get as Survivor fans...

I agree with you. There's nothing at all wrong with a band deciding to call it quits, but there is something wrong with making promises and not delivering on them.
On the other hand, at this point, if we're dumb enough to believe anything Frankie says anymore, WE'RE the fools. Survivor is finished, except for a few small-ish gigs at various festivals or whatever.

In one of your posts you said that Peterik knew how to keep Frankie working back in the 80's. Keep him motivated, I guess?
So, would you say that even in the 80's Sullivan didn't have much self-motivation to work on music?

No idea....but from my perspective they are done....a lounge act...JJ is doing a great job on the 15 or 20 dates a year they will and have been doing....

Unless you do NEW music you are basically a cover band of yourself!!!

I want to know what Sullivan thinks there is to benefit by lying to the fans over and over again about working on new songs?

All he does is piss everyone off when we see that he's lying.

If Survivor is done, they're done. There's nothing to benefit by lying to us.

I wonder how long JJ will stay with Frankie this time without there being new music to play. For someone as prolific as JJ has been in the music scene, it must be frustrating to be a part of such a slow moving process. Hopefully, JJ will continue to work on solo and collaboration projects but continue to play with Survivor since that's the best material he has to sing - especially the deeper tracks they've been pulling out.
