Best Bohemian Rhapsody Cover EVER!

Postby JRNYMAN » Sun Jul 22, 2012 10:51 am

Arguably the absolute best cover of one of Rock's most iconic songs. Marc Martel's uncanny and spot on vocals performing with his band. Marc won the spot as lead singer of the Official Queen Tribute Band and you'll see and hear why.

...and the song he used to audition/enter the contest Somebody to Love. This particular performance is with his band. Wow!

And surprise, surprise, here he is with Jeff Scott Soto performing Pressure somewhere in Canada.

Find the clip with him on Ellen. They put up a side-by-side of him with a stache and Freddie and OMFG!!
The guy has definitely got Freddie's mannerisms and vocal intonations down to a friggin' T!

What I don't understand is if Queen has access to this guy and he's already on the payroll, why would they go with Lambert as lead singer of Queen. Martel sounds, looks and performs..... well...... exactly like Mercury would which you would think would be exactly what May and Taylor would want most if they had a choice - which they do......

Maybe because it's "bad karma" for them to replicate him like that!?! I mean Rodgers was an out of left field choice. I dunno...too spooky, maybe?

Yeah, I can see that. It makes sense. Plus it will definitely create a huge draw for the tribute band, "Dude! You've got to check out the singer of this Queen tribute band. Fuckin' A!"
Yeah, I get it.

Sorry guys.  Oh well, I would've been just as excited and impressed then as I am now.
so what's the deal with JSS and Queen? His name is listed on the roster of members of the Official Queen Tribute Band. Good for him!

See Uncle Hefty's post of last page of aforementioned thread:

"Let me bring some clarity: Jeff has made plain his desire to be involved with Queen for some time, and he was aproached as long ago as November as to his availability and we began to make contingencies, but were in the midst of planning his own tour to support 'Damage Control' and that seemed to rule out any QE involvement. Yet Roger Taylor called Jeff to see if he could bring his 'rock' side into the process.
Neither he, nor Yvan were involved in the audition process, but they were hand picked by Roger and it has to be said that the nine musicians all blend beautifully."

The QE show was terrific, and there is talk that they will be continuing the tour - but not sure if all the same players will be part of it. Marc's band Downhere has broken up but I don't know if that means he wants to continue with QE or if he will focus on his solo career - here's the single from his upcoming EP:

(A little too 'pop' for my liking - I actually like some of Downhere's Christian music better than this)

I STILL think Marc is the logical singer for Queen.... to pay homage to Freddy era stuff... and move forward...

Lambert just seems (to me) an illogical fit.. especially now that Martel is free from his band commitments..

Adam may seem illogical but his world wide draw is incredible. Check out Queen in Moscow, Kiev, Wroclaw, Poland and Hammersmith in London. Brian & Roger choose him for many reasons.

Just like Journey draws based on their catalog of hits, and Arnel is just the singer.. I'm more inclined to believe Queen (and their catalog) is the draw.. and Lambert is just the singer...
