I've actually never heard AP sing "Send Her My Love" before. How does he do on that song? I like that song and haven't heard it played too much.

Not even one song from ECLIPSE....?? WTF!! :?

Blame it on pussy fans. Blame it on Journey too, for not promoting new tunes properly.

You must blame consumers for the failure of the Edsel, "New Coke" and Cop Rock too.

Implying that a quality product is directly proportionate to its commercial success is silly. Suggesting that post-Perry Journey songs don't do well because none of them approach the quality of a Perry-led Journey is a dubious statement to make, let alone the idea that none of them are good period. A lot of it has to do with fluctuating musical climates and trends, in addition to the reluctance of fans accepting music that isn't on the greatest hits package. At Louisville and other concerts, I saw plenty of songs played that left the majority in attendance silent or scratching their heads (if they were on their feet at all) that came from the Perry era.

To the average fan, it has little to do with Perry vs. Pineda. They'd give the same amount of fucks about "Winds of March" and "La Do Da" as they would "Higher Place" or "City of Hope." It's about what they heard on the radio and they're collectively uninterested in little else.

In my opinion, and judging by their absence from the set list. Eclipse sucked. At least Arrival and Revelation tunes lived in the live setting for longer than the lifespan of a terminally ill fruit fly. Arrival and Revelation tunes survived because they have great hooks and sound like Journey tunes. Not shitty Neil tunes.

I agree about Winds of March and La Do Da. What made those songs special were Perry's extraordinary vocals. Without them, their existence in the setlist (for me anyway) is pointless.

I respect your opinion, I'm just saying Eclipse's failing commercially doesn't mean the songs sucked. Regarding "Winds of March" and the others, what I'm saying is that it's not like every song Perry ever sang on is embraced by the fans with open arms (pun intended). If it's not one of the dirty dozen, the casual fans pretty much don't give a shit and that's not just exclusive Augeri and Pineda tracks.

Except they didn't. After the Arrival tour, fans were occasionally treated to Higher Place. Not much else tho. I will agree that Revelation has more immediate hooks. But is that a good thing? As Neal said, "same chords, different songs." There are a few catchy Arrival-type tunes on Eclipse. Maybe not enough to appease some, but "Someone" and "Ritual" and "To Whom It May Concern" are classic Journey.

In a case like Journey's, what they should do is build the set list in songs of three. Out of those three make it 2 known songs and one perhaps everyone is not familiar with but make it be a good tune. My set list would look like this.

Ask The Lonely
Never Walk Away
Stone In Love
Feeling That Way/Anytime
Someone
I'll Be Alright Without You
Wheel In The Sky
After All These Years
Any Way You Want It
Keep On Runnin'
Who's Crying Now
Resonate
Faithfully
Higher Place
Still They Ride
Message Of Love
Open Arms
Separate Ways
Encore
Just The Same Way
Don't Stop Believin'

Something like this would be good in my book- plus you still have newer Arnel material in it.
