No where does it state Schon paid 50 million (let alone 55 million).

Schon's offered settlement came after this ruling. He didn't have to pay anything, he chose to do it. My guess is, it was to ensure Tareq wouldn't stall the divorce proceedings further. In other words, he threw Tareq a bone to placate him. My guess is Schon probably paid Tareq's legal fees and kicked him an extra 100k or so. But make no mistake, Schon won. The judge ruled in his favor each time and the last time he dismissed the suit with prejudice -- which means Tareq was legally barred from ever refiling again.

I think it was more than that. Not some crazy figure like 50 million dollars but a million is easily explainable. Schon wants Michaele to be happy; Tareq is under no obligation to make the divorce easier for her. Not to mention that he has Schon's dick pics which if Neal sent to him are his to do as he pleases.
The gift of the Bentley sets the bar for how much Michaele's happiness is worth to Neal. Get an NDA , the divorce signed and an agreement on never releasing the photo(s) that Neal sent him. That's worth three Bentleys to Neal, I'm sure.

Well the final amount is speculation on everyone's part, myself included, but the big picture is it makes no sense that Schon paid 50 million (and certainly not 55 million) after a judge dismissed it.

Whatever, I mean I really could care less about all this nonsense. I've got my sights set on The Calling. The only other thing I want to know is when that power trio album between Schon, Castronovo and Mendoza is going to drop. The rest is silliness.

I get you. I was just looking at the extremes of 50 million dollars and $20,000. Tareq deserves nothing but in the real world, that doesn't always wash. What seems like ridiculous amounts to us, aren't really that ludicrous for those that live in that tax bracket.

I think what's interesting here, is all the banter back and forth about it. Do we really care? Probably not.
But every time we buy something 'Journey', we're paying for all this s#it.

Think about it. Movie stars, rock stars, et al, they have renewable income. The big names don't care about who they're paying off, and maybe not even how much. They know it's not money out of their pockets. We, the general public buying schmucks are paying for it. Whatever that worthless zero Salahi gets, Schon's coffers are just a pass-thru.

Journey's current status as a touring classic rock band, is a cash cow. Schon doesn't have to work/create any more. He just has to assemble some sort of band and play the GH. We throw money at him.

He pays alimony, child support, and settles law suits...all on our 'dime'. Period. He hurts, not at all.

An example of one license, not even for DSB.
Who's Crying Now was licensed for Monsters VS Aliens. In addition to getting paid the license fee (which unlike royalties is not capped by the government and can be any amount) the DVD goes on to sell over ten million copies just in the U.S. alone. Every copy sold, every airing on TV or where ever just adds to the kitty. One song brings in all that for one license. Now, multiply that by well over a hundred licenses.
Imagine, there are more DVDs featuring Journey music that have been sold (over 200 million worldwide) than there have been Journey albums (80 million). Speaking of albums, Journey sold over 700,000 in the US last year and we didn't even know about it. And those aforementioned DVDs will all eventually be in syndication, getting played on TV somewhere, everyday. We don't even need to mention radio.
There are so many ways money is being made off the dirty dozen that we don't even think about and I haven't even mentioned touring.
Okay, Deen and Arnel need to keep touring to continue enjoying their standard of living right now but for the classic members who have a great 401k called the Journey catalog it's just sick what they are bringing in (and most of it has happened in the last five years with DVDs and Digital sales starting to really take off).
I'm just saying for Neal, a million dollars ain't that big a deal to make a problem go away.

This is exactly what I meant, by 'renewable income'. And now, that Salahi dude, is getting a cut of it. If we were really pissed, we'd stop buying all things 'Journey'. Food for thought, next concert we go to, or record/swag we buy.

Magic had money before HIV.
Salahi tried to pimp an alleged illness to get money. That alone makes her pretty despicable.

Well, nobody ever held her in high esteem. If she makes Neal happy and puts a bit of twang in his neck, if it helps the music play, I'm cool with it. :D

His personal life doesn't affect me as long as it doesn't impact the music.

After the marketing disaster that was Eclipse, there probably won't be any new Journey music to have an impact on.

There won't be any new CD. Unfortunately, the album was not written or promoted to sell many copies. While I like it just fine, it's a far departure from the sound Journey is known for and any future efforts will be on the band's own dime and I just can't see them throwing future profits into the abyss, taking the crap shoot on an album that may or may not sell. Touring and playing the DD is where the bucks are for Deen and Arnel. Neal, Jon and Ross will be ok either way, but I doubt they would toss any serious money into another album. Who's gonna pick up another album and promote it?

No, I think that's a stretch. Maybe a nod in the liner notes, like "Dina, my angel", or whatever it said in whatever Schon album it was. Or maybe a creative credit something like Lori Carpenter got for Revelation. I wouldn't doubt it though, that in the upcoming solo records, there'll probably be a comment about 'her' helping him "get through it all".

And that's cool. Like her or not, she's a part of his life while he's releasing it all...maybe not creating or recording...but there's something to be said for having an emotional 'SO' at certain times. Fair enough.

Schon may not have to work/create, but the fact remains that he still does. Touring and playing live is certainly work. It is not easy being on the road a third of the year. And just looking at the past few years, when off the road the guy has gone and "created" two solo cd's worth of music and a Journey CD. It is not work in the traditional 40hr work week sense, but it is definitely work.

Neal has totally eclipsed Arnel in the media since he hooked up with this chic. Even Pineda's documentary couldn't keep Michaele and Neal's out of the spotlight for very long. When you think about it, the fade away of the film's publicity started when Neal showed up at one of the premieres with Michaele and critiqued the movie for not centering enough on the group.
Dude has finally got his band back, for realsies.

No doubt, it seems like a lot of work. But, as the saying goes, "If you're doing something you love, then you'll never work a day in your life." NS has said many times that he loves to get out and play. That's obviously his passion...for over 40 yrs now. Call it work if you want, but he loves doing what he does. Creating music, playing music, maintaining relationships, and laughing all the way to the bank. It's probably all he knows. Not a bad gig at all.
