LOVIN' IT. Work Of Art got the nod for best album of '11, and this looks like it might hit #2 for '12. Nothing's beating Rush. lol

Utterly an absolutely brilliant record.

I'll talk further when you obtain a legally released copy. Leaked advance downloads and downloaders is killing this business.

I can see your point of view but I can also understand the point of view of many others who are tired of buying cds that end up being garbage. Being able to hear the music before purchase helps people get what they actually want. There used to be a lot of mom and pop shops around that sold new/used cds , you could go in and spend an entire day listening to all types of music and come out with 8-10 cds of great stuff, unfortunately most of those shops are closed now.

Being able to hear this cd helped me decide that i don't want this one(eclipse), the same went for the Rush cd but being able to listen to the new Slash, the new Train and the new Richard marx helped me know that i wanted those cds. It allows me to either pick them up on my own or put them on the wish list for birthdays and holidays from my family.

If it were not for advance downloads, soundclips or any kind of way to hear whats on the cd,For me personally, i would be purchasing much less music. I would be unaware that such music even existed. Alienating people with disposable incomes by trying to point the finger of blame for downloads would be one of the worst things anyone in the music business could do if they expect to stay viable in todays music world.

Erik Martensson is a creative force to be reckoned with...check out his other band he's working on in parallel - "The Friday Nights"...power pop ala Cheap Trick, Jelly Fish

The whole cd is full of 2- 3 minute songs, very 80's new wave/slightly punk/pop. the first song sounds like cheap trick because of the obvious dream police keyboards in the background. I get kind of "the Romantics" feel from some of the songs as well. the music is clean but reminds me of songs you would hear from an 80's soundtrack something ala "the breakfast club", seriously there's 3-4 songs that just break 2 minutes. The best song on the cd is "in the moment" a moody ballad, longest song on the cd(just under 4 mins) very good song, again sounds like its right out of the 80's. I hear a mix of new wave and soft rock on this one song.Overall very different from the new Eclipse. Angela is a good song but its sounds like a variation of cheap tricks, "dream police" so i'm not surprised that it's catchy. A very stripped down cd , not sure if he was just having fun on this cd ,or trying to play to a movie soundtrack type of deal :?:

Erik modelled The Friday Nights on Rick Springfield's classic Working Class Dog album - which essentially was a power pop album for its time. TFN are updated, but with the same fun, hook laiden pop/rock feel.

The whole album knocked my dick in the dirt.

First time in years have I had this much of a reaction to a whole complete record. Most records in this genre are just not as good as they were in the 80s and 90s.....These days there's at least 1-2 stinkers within the first 5 songs...or in the case of Journey, the first 1-2 songs. But the eclipse record, from the first song screamed "grab your dick, son, we're taking you for a fucking ride!"....

I'm going to have a hard time listening to anything else for quite a few months.

Didn't you release Journey's Eclipse onto the internet for illegal downloads?

Yes and proudly so ! I would not pay a dime toward anything Neal Schon is involved with and GLADLY share it with anyone.
But on a serious note , I didn't "release" it online. It was available to download , I downloaded it , listened to it , didn't care for it and got rid of it.
I've never denied downloading copies of CDs to listen to. I always buy the CD if I like it enough. If I don't , I delete it.
Any more questions Giddy !? ;) :)

Nah, I just remember Rip saying at the time that you released it to everyone and wasn't surprised if Al Jazeera had it thanks to your efforts.

Thanks for clarifying though.

First off, this song is great! Had never heard of these guys and am so glad ebake02 posted this thread.

Second, I got an advance copy of ECL1P53 from Beshad and was quite grateful. Then proceeded to buy 2 copies once released.

I bought a copy off Amazon, waiting for it to arrive.

I was going to support my local indie record store and pick a copy up from them because their website said they had it. I went to go get a copy and it wasn't at their store. 2nd time in the last 2 weeks they've lost a sale because they don't have a new release (KISS - Destroyer Resurrected was the other).
