Eddie Money in New Geico Commercial - Yikes!

Postby JRNYMAN » Sun Sep 09, 2012 3:12 pm

Just saw Eddie Money in a Geico commercial singing Two Tickets to Paradise a'capella. I love the guy but, damn.... I don't know which was worse, his voice or how rough he looks!

I like Eddie. He doesn't take himself too seriously. The guy could probably use a little extra scratch--he wasn't one of the mega stars. His voice sounds fine to me. It's not like he was ever a DDY or Steve Perry-caliber technical singer, anyway.

Agreed and agreed. I think it's the fact he's singing a'capella and it's kinda pitchy. And as far as looking rough, I'm just not used to seeing him so thin. At first glance, I thought he might be sick or something.
Don't get me wrong... As I stated above, I love Eddie. He's been a staple and a fixture in our generation's music for as long as I can remember. Was just caught off-guard with this one.

And let's not forget that getting old beats the alternative.

When I saw this commercial I immediately thought of the 'Glen' commercial that Survivor did for Starbucks...

Wasn't there a (former?) member of Survivor that did the "Real Men of Genius" Bud Light commercials?

Dave Bickler, the vocalist for the first half of Survivor's career. He sang Eye of the Tiger.

under the mostly useless information category, Dave Bickler was also with the band from 1993-99. Various issues (including a lawsuit over the band name with the other lead singer Jimi Jamison) precluded any cds to be released during this time period.
