All of it unnecessary. It was just a headache.

You want to know what I think about, Ed? Yes? Ok, I'll tell you.I've been rebuffed about this from Nat, but I still think it's true. Think about this line. "If they cure you, they're out of business." Think long and hard on that one.

The drug companies certainly don't want you to be healthy. That's why they do everything in their power to suppress cures for diseases and natural alternatives to prescription drugs. If you're healthy you won't need their drugs.

No we aren't, but if we all saw a doctor they might try and diagnose us that way and put us on meds.

Doctors
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.
Now think about this:
Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188
Statistics courtesy of the FBI
So statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. Remember, Guns don't kill people, doctors do!!!
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT Almost everyone has at least one doctor. This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor than as by a gun owner!!!
Now if you have more than one doctor, You're just out of luck!!!
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on Lawyers

Bullshit!
Let's use the example of Ed's wife. She goes to the ER requesting evaluation/treatment for a headache. There are all kinds of headaches and lots of things that can cause a headache, some benign, some life threatening. Doctors/nurses/nurse practitioners/PAs/nurse midwives are not psychics, we can't tell what's wrong with someone just by looking at them, we have to do tests and those tests cost money and many times those tests have risks-which are disclosed to the patient. A wet tap is a risk if a lumbar puncture. A blood patch is the treatment for that complication but it can also be treated with caffeine and time-waiting for it to heal.
Now let's look at the flip side, imagine the doctor told her "it's just a headache, go home" and it did turn out to be meningitis and she suffered complications from it or even death from it, he could be sued for malpractice for not performing a thorough evaluation and this conversation would be about how stupid doctors are because they didnt know she had meningitis.
The bottom line is, if you have a headache and you don't want to be thoroughly evaluated and treated for it, don't seek treatment.
