You going to any of these, Andrew?

He should come to Adelaide, and we'll have an MR contingent of two. But, you know, a serious contingent of two.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Melbourne is my nearest port of call and yes :)
Haven't seen the band with Arnel yet - JSS x 2 and SA x 1.

That's great. I hope you enjoy the show, and I hope Ari can see the show with you, although I know she's quite a few hours away.

DP will close, but both will do 90s I think.

Happy that the band can finally make it down here, yes indeed!

Journey

Postby Bobby Van Halen » Wed Oct 31, 2012 10:30 pm

I for one cannot believe that Deep Purple will headline over Journey in Australia.

Does Michael Chugg(promoter)have rocks in his head.

I will guarantee that there is no way this show ill sell out.

Nobody in Australia wants to see Deep Purple. They have been here countless times and are fucking boring.

Journey will blow them off the stage.

But there is no way i'd be paying to see DP play. This is a major joke.

How about putting on Journey at the Enmore Theatre. They'll tear the roof off the place.

LOL !
Seen Purple with Satriani and although Joe is without question one of the best the chemistry just wasn't there.
Steve Morse is a great combination with Purple he makes that band still sound great even without Ritchie.

Deep Purple is known here. With the best will in the world, Journey isn't. To most people in Australia, Journey are "Who? Oh, the don't stop believing guys. Do they have another song?"

Common sense. DP are big here and have toured 5 or 6 times now. Journey are nothing here (harsh reality) and have never toured before. The AOR geeks will be out in force though and I'll be one of them :)

According to most sources it is a Co-headliner tour bill.

I would figure DP goes first if for no reason but those boys are getting up there in age! 10 O'clock at night be feelin kind of late these days! ; )

DP has some great songs though, and are a good band and I hope they rock! Even without Blackmore. I have to admit though, without Blackmore, I would probably not stay for very much after Journey played.

I would have preferred Journey with Loverboy and Pat Benatar.

I'll be leaving once Deep Purple come on.They are just a bore these days..

I have seen a ton of concerts over the years. DP still jumps out in my mind as one of the best shows I have ever seen. However, that was back in 1987 with Ritchie on board. I love Steve Morse also, one of the top 10 best guitarists in the world (IMO), but DP is just not the same as with Ritchie. I am sure they still put on a decent show and would stick around just to watch Morse play. I would have enjoyed this double bill if it was here in the states.

The idea of Journey touring with Deep Purple is definetly a unique touring package. I dont think Journey has ever played with Deep Purple, even with all the festivals back in the 80s.

Deep Purple have a singer who sang many hits with them,
Journey, no.

I would think there is so many more Purple fans in Australia who wont be there early, and I dont blame them.
