Journey and Whitesnake, along with special guests Thunder, are set to appear onstage together for the first time ever in May 2013, taking in eight dates across the UK. Tickets go on sale 10am on Friday 9th November priced at 45 (regionally) & 48.50 (London) (subject to booking fee) and are available from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk

Journey, one of the most popular American rock bands of all time, are responsible for creating some of the best-known songs in modern music. Over the years they have gained multiple accolades - including 19 Top 40 singles, 25 Gold and Platinum albums and single 'Don't Stop Believin'' holding the #1 digital catalogue song in history. In 2011 they drew nearly a million fans to their 2011 Eclipse World Tour which included a sold-out UK leg and ranked in the Top 15 Tours of the year. In the same year the band were awarded the prestigious "Legend Of Live Award"at the Billboard Touring Awards in honour of the band's significant and lasting contributions to live music and the touring business, and in acknowledgement of their commitment to the fans and the art of performing live. Journey will be joining the tour with their line-up of Neal Schon (guitars, backing vocals), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, backing vocals), Ross Valory (bass, backing vocals), Deen Castronovo (drums, percussion, backing vocals) and Arnel Pineda (lead vocals).

Journey's Neal Schon said of the tour: "Looking forward to getting back to the UK and playing our best for you all. You guys are the very best, cheers and see you soon. We will be rocking!"

Co-headlining the 2013 tour are the legendary Whitesnake who carry a rightful & righteous reputation as one of the world's leading rock'n'roll bands. Founded and formed by Deep Purple singer David Coverdale, the band have earned multi-platinum albums and multiple top 10 hits worldwide, including 2 number 1 singles with 'Here I Go Again' and 'Is This Love' as well as the unforgettable hammer of 'Still Of The Night'. Bombast, bravado, talent and passion have helped establish Whitesnake as the perennial platinum favourite they have become and they're back with a vengeance in 2013, with plans to release a live DVD ahead of the tour as well as a double album. "Unfinished business..."as Coverdale says slyly. "We all wanted the last tour to continue as we got closer to the end...After a year in the studio we're ready to rock on stage again...We're coming back for more..."

Harnessing Coverdale's blues and soul roots & fueled by incendiary guitarists Doug Aldrich & Reb Beach you have all the elements needed to shape the 'Snake's hard rock identity.

Special guests Thunder will also be joining the UK dates. In 2009 the band went their separate ways, only to return in 2011 for a triumphant live performance at the High Voltage festival in London, followed by 2 sell out Christmas shows. Thunder returned for another 2 sell-out Christmas shows in 2012, with the date first selling out in just 6 hours. The band has been lured back on to the stage for next year's tour with Journey and Whitesnake. Perhaps this could re-ignite their desire for more.

Singer Danny Bowes says: "We'd already discussed possibly doing some shows next year, so this is perfect, and it's a great bill, like they used to be back in the day, it'll be a brilliant night out".

interesting. Journey seems to be the odd-band out, as Thunder is akin to early Whitesnake mixed with a a fair amount of Bad Co. All I can say is that both Journey and Whitesnake better be on form, because Thunder has the potential to blow both out of the building if they are firing on all cylinders--and they are probably equal in popularity with Journey in the UK. Should be a vocal showdown also, as although Coverdale has lost a lot, Danny Bowes hasn't lost anything and can sing circles around most singers. Between him and Arnel, there is a heck of a lot of vocal talent in that building.

Wish I could go. That should be one heck of a show.

Hummm...Since Thunder basically broke up a year or so ago, I wonder how they got Thunder to regroup and tour again!! Journey should be doing a major market tour next year or maybe 2014 and it would be great exposure for Thunder. I would love to see them bring this bill to the US.

Thunder retired in 2009 (wow, three years already) because the various band members all had lots of other projects to work on and they couldn’t commit to Thunder as an active recording unit.

However, Thunder continued to have the odd reunion gig, at festivals and Christmas specials (where they bring on some special guests and do a mixture of Thunder songs and other songs). This year’s Christmas shows have both sold out – the first date sold out within six hours, which gives you some indication of their popularity in the UK.

I regularly work with the guys in Thunder and The Union (guitarist Luke Morley’s other band) but even I was surprised at the announcement.

As has already been said, Thunder are a VERY hard act to follow as they are a great live band. That they didn’t break through in the US was a travesty of timing. Their debut tour in the US a couple of decades ago got cancelled by their record company in the same month that grunge caught fire over there and suddenly nobody was interested in blues rock any more. They never went back. They did, however, go to Japan and they are now probably as popular there as they are in the UK. Whenever they play, there are always quite a few Japanese fans in the audience.

This is one tour I’m really looking forward to. It’s unfortunate that I also have tickets to see Rush three times in the middle of it, which means I’ll be going to something like nine concerts in ten days.

What are the chances of this line up touring in the US in '13 ? 2014 might be to long to hold this line up together. I would have love to see these 3 instead of PB and Lvrby. After that shit concert with Poison and DL this would have been just what the DR. ordered

I'd doubt this tour would happen in the States. Journey is more popular here than Whitesnake, so they'd likely want to close, but I can't see Coverdale not wanting to close the show. Thunder is irrelevant here too, so they'd have to pull in a higher profile 3rd band.

Yeah, I saw BE headline their own shows twice, and one time with them opening for Whitesnake. They also opened some shows for KISS on one of those tours.

Everybody will probably have different opinions on this, but for me two of their best studio albums were 'The Magnificent Seventh' and 'Laughing on Judgement Day'. Alternatively, if you want a compilation of some of their best stuff, try 'Their Finest Hour (and a bit)'.

If you prefer live performances, a great example of Thunder live is one of their '20 Years and Out' live CDs. Basically they recorded three shows from their farewell tour in 2009 and sold them live and unedited at the end of each show - literally minutes after the show. Therefore the recordings have that bootleg feel (but still very high quality), but are great examples of the way the band develop a rapport with the audience.

I downloaded "The Very Best of Thunder" from Amazon- 40 odd songs for $18- studio and some live stuff, a couple of Stones covers and a Who cover- worth every penny.

You'll get different opinions from everyone, but my favorites are the debut (Backstreet Symphony--which has Don't Wait For Me), and Behind Closed Doors. The Magnificent Seventh is also very good. The Thunder Live album is also excellent.
