I'm also adding Herm Edwards And Kotite to my Mount Rushmore. Not so much for their spectacular coaching, but because they were entertaining. (I particularly enjoyed Kotite's insistance that the Jets could still be a Wild Card team, despite the fact that it was November and they only won 1 game all season. And I equally enjoyed his response when a reporter asked him about being fired: "I wasn't fired. The team just decided it would be best if I didn't return.")

Sammy Baugh would be eaten and shitted out in todays game. You cannot remotely compare players who played in the fucking 30's. 40's and 50's. Like,

what were there, 5 teams? I can equate players from the 60's playing in todays game, although roughly more than half of them would be special team

players. You would actually put Baugh in over Charley Taylor? Ken Houston? Bobby Mitchell? Might as well have put Billy Kilmer instead of Riggins.

LOL, John your right on the money. Wayne Chrebet? Keyshawn Johnson? Might as well have put fireman Ed in there. I hate the Yets. Probaly more

than I hate Notre Dame and that's saying a lot. Beisdes being in the Dolphin's division, they absolutely have the most obnoxious motherfucking fans

in football.

Um, what? I posted some self-deprecating humor about my team, and then you went on a rant about how much you hate the team and its "motherfucking fans"... and yet, the Jets fans are the obnoxious ones? Oookay.

Being from Boston, I definitely believe New York fans on the whole are beyond obnoxious. That said, I'm not really sure what any Jets fan would have to be obnoxious about. The team has pretty much sucked, FOREVER! Not much to thump your chest about if you're a Jets fans. Shit, if Wayne Chrebet, Keyshawn Johnson, and Vinny Testaverde are on your "Mt. Rushmore", that pretty much tells you all you need to know! In fact, if the Jets weren't the "NY" Jets, I'd actually feel sympathy for their fans!

We're talking about the Mt Rushmore of players, THE 4 all-time greats...it can't just be the most famous, or who won championships for the city,, right?
So, here goes:

SF Giants:
Willie Mays
Willie McCovey
Juan Marichal
Bobby Bonds

49ers:
YA Tittle
Hugh McElhenney
Joe Montana
Jerry Rice

SF/GS Warriors:
Rick Barry
Nate Thurmond
Chris Mullins
Al Attles (would be Chris Webber if he wasn't such a polarizing figure in his brief stay there)

Some of these choices are head scratches... more like "favorite" than all-time great. Granted, The Cowboys had many, many great players, so hard to narrow down to 4 ... but Jason Witten? Like JfB said, he wasn't even their best TE, was he? How about Billy Joe Dupree?

As a kid beginning to watch football I loved the Vikings. Watching on tv the driving snow coming down like a downpour at old metropolitan stadium, stoic & stoned face Bud Grant on the sideline, the purple people eaters devouring rb's whole. Still like KC, I follow them. That being said, my Mt. Rushmore of the Minnesota Vilings:

!. Bud Grant
2.Paul Krause
3.Chuck Foreman
4.Jim Marshall

If I had a choice of my all-time qb for the Vikings, it would have been Tommy Kramer, that dude was great and highly under rated.

yeah Kramer was a very good QB. Certainly a reliable guy for a number of years. You are right about the Old Met stadium and Bud Grant. The Vikes went downhill when they lost both of those two. The horrible weather made the Vikes tough, and Grant made em even tougher. Once they went inside it was eventually down hill for them.

The problem is that I couldn't consciously take Irvin over Lilly. Had Irvin gotten to play longer (FUCK YOU, PHILLY) that might be different. Lilly gets in for launching he helmet 50 yds after Super Bowl V if nothing else.

Aren't they building a new, outdoor, football stadium in Minnesota? That would be fucking AWESOME! I've been an NFL fan as long as I can remember and have ALWAYS despised domes. It's another reason that I'll always rank QB's in lousy weather cities over guys who play in warm weather cities or domes. Weather is a HUGE part of football. I still remember the crazy ass "Fog Bowl". I think it was the Bears against the Eagles. Couldn't see a damn thing on the TV, but was somehow amazing to watch. Give me a football game in a blizzard over a game in a dome 100 out of 100 times!

I'm with ya on the dome thing. I think that Cowboys Stadium, and Reliant should always be open. And the last good snow game I saw was '10 Pats/Bears at Soldier. Pats kicked the shit out of them, but that's beside the point. lol

The Fog Bowl was a tough game to watch. And yes...it was Bears/Eagles. They really had to trust their routes that game.

Like you John, football is made to be played OUTSIDE on REAL GRASS (And not the kind you smoke Ed), in all types of weather. Dome stadiums, like the

cowgirls, suck! Oh, and a fuck you goes out to Liam on that one.

I hope the Viking get that outdoor stadium and bring back Joe Kapp throwing to Gene Washington down the sideline with a blizzard coming down!

Interesting fun fact...Drew Brees and Peyton Manning are the only dome QB's to ever win a Super Bowl. Again, playing in shitty weather builds character. I'm still waiting for the first blizzard game of this season. Still haven't seen one, and need to. It's not really football season until the snow starts flying (and I fucking hate snow)

Those are the best. I feel the same way about snow. It just totally screws up everything here, as you could imagine, plus it makes my job miserable.

It's usually some assbag from Southern, CA, Florida, or another place that is only used to seeing ice in their drinks who waxes poetic about how "majestic" or "pretty" snow is. It's never a dude from Minnesota! These fuckers would feel a whole lot differently if they had to live through the snow that I deal with every winter. There is nothing remotely majestic about sliding down the road sideways...into a tree

Yeah finally they are, but its going to take a few years for the Vikes to grow back the big balls that came with playing at home in the snow and sub zero wind chills !
