I think it's pretty well accepted that what ever is left over isn't an equal five way split.

That 6.9 million figure is a combination of net (not gross) revenue from touring, recorded-music sales, publishing royalties, licensing and payments from an array of digital services.

Journey netted around 23 million in 2008 courtesy of the success of the Wal-Mart deal.
In 2009 and 2010 the band didn't make the lists
In 2011 Journey netted 12 million with over 700,000 records sold.

Yes, before promoter and manager fees (and other miscellaneous shit) are deducted which looks to account for about 66% in Journey's case (yes, Azoff gets paid like a mother fucker). It looks like the other 11 million dollars earned last tour (26 million total box office) goes to the two opening acts though I don't know the percentages of that split. Benatar probably got the lion's share I would think.

The 6.9 million net is before personal fees and taxes, like individual managers or personal assistants or what not.. those are paid out of each band members individual salaries; obviously, the bigger the entourage the more slices out of your own take home amount. At least 1.8 million of that 6.9 is for royalties, licensing and other things that won't be divided up with all of the current band members either.

All the former members get paid too, that's a great retirement package.
