$85 Billion. Please Explain

Postby Memorex » Thu Feb 28, 2013 4:25 pm

So sequestration. Let's say it hits. They will automatically cut $85 Billion from the budget. Let's pretend that it was real dollars and not a decrease in the rate of future increases.

So the 2013 proposed budget (since we don't have real budgets anymore) is $3.8 Trillion.

$85 billion is roughly 2% of $3.8 Trillion. Does anyone actually believe any of this sky-is-falling rhetoric? This is equivalent to a person making $100,000 a year taking a pay cut of $2,000. Oh, the horror.

So we just raised taxes on everyone and especially on the over $400k group. New taxes for 2013 are projected at $150 billion, nearly twice as much as this $85 billion blip. It's not even a blip. It's absolutely ZERO.

Now, someone please correct me. I do realize you may have been told that a layoff was a result of this cut, but would you really even come close to believing that? You know what will happen if the automatic cuts take place? We will wake up and it will be the next day and that's really about it.

What I also find so strange is that this sequestration was the White House's idea and the president signed it into law and yet he has been traveling around the country spreading nightmare scenarios. I wonder how much that cost.

Ok, please correct me so I understand. Or not, cause I don't really think I care. :)

I know where they can get this money and hard working Americans won't feel even a burp.

Take away entitlements for lazy assed people and illegals. There is more than $85 billion in that account!

something to remember is that this isn't actual cutting spending..

..it's only cutting the rate of increase in spending... not the total

Well, I.C.E. or the B.O. administration whom ever you want to believe ordered it, released a bunch of "low level offender" illegals (undocumented citizens for you P.C. folks) from prison. So that should reduce the cost of inmate housing. :D B.O. is just using the same tactics he always has. Prey on people's fears and demonize his opposition. After all, this will do what he actually wants anyway by shrinking the military. He even is acting as if this is already effecting it by delaying the deployment of an aircraft carrier. However. in the end people will blame the Republicans. Even if a deal was reached before the deadline. In that case they should just stand their ground. Makes no difference in that respect.

Don't worry about all those illegals that got released. We've been buying guns in record numbers. We will take care of our own....and this problem, should any of them show up at our houses and enact any bad deeds on us our our families. I'm ready for all trespassers, including any member of government coming to confiscate my arms.

The ones that were released are a drop in the bucket compared to the ones already roaming around. Also, we should not see a rise in inmate housing costs due to detention of illegals (undocumented citizens for you P.C. folks) since this administration has directed I.C.E. not to detain them at this point. There is so much fuss being made about granting them amnesty when at this point it really doesn't change anything. Our government sees no problem with not properly securing our borders, deporting those that have entered the country illegally and having them leach off our entitlement programs, education system and healthcare system. So basically it's the same thing with a different title.

Watch your language there slucero, it's ok to associate monkeys with whites at those locations, but it is racist to do so when there are non-whites in those locations, as it is now......but no worries, I know what your saying.

The reason I referred only to "All of these ass-fucking monkeys in Congress and the WH" means it is all-inclusive, as in all people, regardless of color.... had I meant to be racist the post would have included a reference to color/race/ethnicity...

EXAMPLE: "Pinoy ass-fucking monkeys in Congress".

Right on Steveo...when I asked my school board (of which 80% of my ludicrous property bill tax goes to) how many of the
60% of high school students that are getting free lunches, tuition, and drivers ed are not even Legal Americans....they said
they have no idea, it is against the law for them to ask.

The problem here is obvious, but yet, we have so many people out there who do not see that this a problem.
We should be able to question everything that affects this country financially, including, but not limited to who is entitled to the entitlements.
It's truly shocking when you see who gets what.

Senate Budget Committee data shows that, last year, the United States government spent over $60,000 to support welfare programs per each household that is in poverty. The calculations are based on data from the Census, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Congressional Research Services.

"According to the Census’s American Community Survey, the number of households with incomes below the poverty line in 2011 was 16,807,795," the Senate Budget Committee notes. "If you divide total federal and state spending by the number of households with incomes below the poverty line, the average spending per household in poverty was $61,194 in 2011." (emphasis added)

This dollar figure is almost three times the amount the average household on poverty lives on per year. "If the spending on these programs were converted into cash, and distributed exclusively to the nation’s households below the poverty line, this cash amount would be over 2.5 times the federal poverty threshold for a family of four, which in 2011 was $22,350 (see table in this link)," the Republicans on the Senate Budget Committee note.

Tell me about it. Back in the mid 90's I was living in the hood and I saw all kinds of shit going down like this all the time. You would be amazed at how such a neighborhood comes to life when the welfare money comes in. It also becomes a "contest" to many in regards to who gets more. One particular incident was one group at a dwelling also did drug transactions and was able to buy more "bling" than the other group of dwellers across the street. So that other group of dwellers did drug transactions plus some sexual business on the side "pimping" to "outbling" the first batch of dwellers. This pissed off the first set of dwellers so they settled the score with a drive by. That's all this is about, who works less but has more bling. That's all it's about. And the US Government takes tax money from the working Americans and hands it out to the non-working so they can have bling. They think that the problem can be solved by giving more money to them. They don't realize that it just feeds the real problem.

No seriously, please explain the horrible impact of $85 billion being cut from the budget. I know children have been pushed to the street, schools have closed, and millions have lost their jobs, but.... What? That hasn't happened yet? Hmmmm.

Federal spending was up $30.5 billion in the first five months of fiscal 2013 compared to the first five months of fiscal 2012, according to newly released data from the U.S. Treasury.
