Geez Louise!!!! That was a long read!!  Interesting nonetheless. I wholeheartedly believe he was the victim and had no knowledge of cocaine. As was mentioned in the story, people like him (savants, geniuses, etc.) live inside a shell that keeps them completely oblivious to social protocols, pop culture, schemes & scams, etc. Their brains are constantly and continuously working on the focus of their respective intellect and.... mission, for lack of a better word.
This is one of those cases where the only ones who know the truth are the 2 individuals personally involved it the situation. 1 will remain a ghost forever and the other, well, he's scheduled to be released in May of 2014.

Yeah ... I started out believing this was just another younger woman scamming an older lonely guy kind of situation.

But the story takes such a dramatic turn when those texts are read out in court. Sounds like he knew exactly what he was doing.

Like someone mentioned, did they ever check the IP address from which this model was contacting him?

Hey, maybe he was chatting to himself .... does that ever happen here I wonder

Yeah, ya know the more I think about it, the texts are pretty damning. If he truly was the closeted, social misfit oblivious to all things seedy and what not, he wouldn't have known the nomenclature and the slang/terms he used in the texts.

Just curious... how/where did you run across that story?

I can't recall exactly but there was this article I read on a multiple food allergy study conducted on children. What touched me was the difficult decision these parents had to make ... whether to allow their kids to participate in the study or not, seeing as some of their allergies were so bad they nearly died when eating certain foods. I think it was connected to Stanford University.

And there could've been a link on that page to this story, seeing that this guy is a professor from NC University.

Links ... they can take you to some strange sites :?
