And our grandparents and folks bitched about the music we listened to too. It's a never ending cycle. It just means we're getting old.

I haven't listened to the new CD all the way through, but it's pretty much in line with current day BJ. Not that current day BJ is that good, but it is what it's been for years now. There's nothing too hard, Richie doesn't get to be the monster he is, and it's a "safe" release that will get airplay because BJ are still media darlings. Name another band from their era that is playing on Idol...not that Idol is anywhere near what it once was, but you get the idea. Long gone are the days of Slippery When Wet. They have matured and probably assume their core audience has. Now most of their music is either Jon making his personal/political beliefs known, subtly or not, or the carbon-copy BJ sappy love song. They have a formula, it works for them, and they keep doing it. And, like them or not, they make boatload of money and can sellout pretty much any place they play.

'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Springsteen grossed 200 million last year and his last cd was nothing to talk about, Bon jovi's female fans still swoon for his looks and that plays a big part in the bands popularity.Their music has been subpar for years but they have figured out how to keep a large following(i would imagine this is mostly female)

They put on a good show! They really do! And I have no attraction to JBJ. I actually think he's an arrogant prick!! But I enjoy the live performance and the concert. My last newer album I liked though, was Have a Nice Day. There were only a couple of songs I skipped on that one.

What does it say about this band here, that they have a new album out yet their forum hasn't had a post in it since November.....

This web board has ALWAYS been predominantly a Journey fan forum. Other bands don't get the traffic the Journey forum has. The only reason there is a general forum now, is because of divisions of those fans when Arnel joined the band. This web board has no bearing whatsoever on BJ's fan base. JBJ has a FB page he posts on, directly to fans, and it has tons of followers. Not to mention they have their own active website. Believe it or not, there is life beyond this message board. I think it just says many Journey fans who post here, aren't BJ fans.

Not to mention, which you sort of did already that Bon Jovi is active with their facebook page and that's where their fans are too. The coolest thing they did (it would have been great if other bands followed suit) was broadcast all of their DVDs through facebook for a full week. I thought that was brilliant. A reason they can do things like that though is because they are still with their main label, unlike bands like Journey who went independent or with a big box retailer.

That's so true! And I think JBJ should get credit for the business man he is. He knows how to market himself, and it works!

Classic! A Bon Jovi note, after listening to the whole CD (I had a coupon and got the deluxe version with a couple extra songs) I think one of the extras, "Into the Echo" is probably one of the top 2-3 tracks on the entire thing. It's too bad it didn't make the regular version.
