Man wins $8K after Disney 'Small World' breakdown

When I was 7, this exact thing happened to me! It was only for 1/2 hour but that's a long time when you're a little kid. The ride stopped, the lights went out, and that song.... it continued to play the entire time! To this day, whenever I hear that stupid song I start twitching and my eyes roll back in my head and I start speaking in tongues!

LOS ANGELES — An attorney says a disabled man was awarded $8,000 by Disneyland after the “It’s A Small World” ride broke, stranding him for three hours while the theme song played continuously.

Lawyer David Geffen says Jose Martinez was the only passenger not evacuated when the ride broke down in 2009, and staffers failed to call the fire department to free him.

The ride’s familiar song couldn’t be turned off the entire three hours Martinez was stuck.

Geffen says Martinez uses a wheelchair, suffers from panic attacks and high blood pressure, and needed to urinate for much of the time he was stranded.

Geffen says half the award ordered Friday is for pain and suffering, and the other half for disability law violations.

Disney did not immediately reply to messages seeking comment.

I know how it feels, I was stuck on a bus for about 8 hours traveling from Vigan to Manila while Elvis' greatest hits volume I, II, and III played constantly durng the entire trip, with the sounds of goats and chickens in the cargo hold between songs. What a pain in the ass that trip was!

After lawyer fees and taxes, he won't even get half of the settlement, but then again what is his "out of pocket" and/or "damages" out of being stuck listening to that song over and over for three hours? The kids running the ride during summer vacation from school are "stuck" there listening to that song over and over a hell of a lot longer than 3 hours.
I've never eaten a piece of sushi I didn't thoroughly enjoy.
