Joe Bonamassa goes for the grand slam!

Wow, on top of relentless touring, 15 solo albums, 3 with BCC, 2 albums with the fantastic Beth Hart, a brand new all acoustic concert CD/DVD at the Vienna Opera House , Joe's halfway through a 4 night concert series in London. 4 different venues, (3 nights back-to-back) with completely different set lists and different band members.

Here is a bit about the series from an interview in Guitar Player Magazine: By the way all 4 shows were sold out.

Here is some info about the 4 shows he's doing in London this year. "Turning to happier events, you have four March shows scheduled and another stand at the Royal Albert Hall, which you’re filming for release.

"The guys who promoted all my shows over there for the last seven or eight years came to me when we were doing two nights at the Hammersmith Apollo and said, “We’ve been doing this for seven years and started at a 150-seat club called the Borderline, and now you’ve done three sell-outs at the Hammersmith Apollo, which holds 5,500 people, one sell-out at the Albert Hall, which holds 5,000, and three sell-outs at Sheppard’s Bush Empire—wouldn’t it be great if we did them all in one week?” So we’re going to do four different nights, four different sets, with four different bands. One night we’re going to have horns, one night will be a four- or five-piece, and one night is going to be the acoustic band. At the Borderline—for all the cats who remember me from seven or eight years ago, when I was doing the power-trio thing and think I’ve sold out and got too slick—we’re going to revisit those big, long jams with the Strat and do the three-piece band. We’re going to DVD it—all the nights—and I’m very excited."

That means that over 4 nights he's playing about 80 different songs!

I'm going to the final night of that series, at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday. Should be a great night.

I've said it before; if you EVER have a chance to see this man live, GO!!!!!!!!!!
We've seen him three times already (once was Black Country Communion); we're going to see him in Las Vegas next month; and they just announced he'll be here in San Diego in December!

Every time I see him, he seems better than the last time!

Fantastic show!

Amazing show last night. Joe has since tweeted that last night was the best gig of his life.

When you read all the hyperbole about 'talent' thrown at pop stars and boy bands and divas and X Factor wannabes, and then you see someone with GENUINE prodigious talent like Joe Bonamassa, it puts into context what a joke those other artists are. Forget Beiber, Beyonce, Blue, Boyzone etc. - Go and see some real talent like Bonamassa. I defy anyone to see him live and not come away stunned at how good he is.

I can't wait to see the DVD.

Photos?

Unfortunately not. I was originally granted a photo pass but the day before the show I got an email saying that because of filming restrictions to do with shooting the DVD, photography wouldn't be allowed. In the event I saw only one pro photographer there, and she had an AAA pass (and I think is Joe's usual photographer).
