Damn Yankees

Anyone else a fan of the band Damn Yankees?

Was wondering if they are ever going to get back together and record another album?Back in the day i was a fan of Night Ranger and Styx as well as Ted Nugent.I'll never forget back in '89 reading the news section in a rock magazine about how all three were going to form a supergroup and i immediately thought about Ted and wondering to myself that there is no way he will let something lame come out with his name on it.Anyway finally saw a release date so i went and bought it the day it came out and i remember being very satisfied with it.I knew when i heard High Enough that it would be a big hit.Of course i also thought to myself there were easily four or five radio hits.I went and saw Styx in '91 of course Tommy Shaw was in Damn Yankees and then a couple years later i saw Nugent solo on a bill witrh Bad Company but never got to see Damn Yankees together. The next album was pretty good as well Don't Tread with the title track and Where You Going Now being the hits off that release. There was to be a third album titled Bravo in '99 but they felt the material wasn't up to par so it was scrapped or some of the material ended up on the other members later releases.

I don't think you will see a reunion of this group. Which is sad. I understand that they attempted it a couple of times but nothing ever paned out. They even recorded an album as a follow up to Don't Tread but it was shelved because Ted was not happy with the results.

They were excellent, Live. It was the best of all worlds involved, because you got Ted Solo stuff, Styx and Tommy Solo stuff, Night Ranger stuff, and other classic music that had nothing to do with them., thrown in for more fun. Occasionally as many as can get together for special things from what I've seen on Youtube, but never say never, right? $$$ talks!

Doubt it.

And the 3rd album was shelved because no one was happy with it. And rightly so!

Come Again is by far my favorite Damn Yankees tune.

They are one of my favorites as well. Jack and Tommy's harmonized vocals are killer. I never realized Nugent had a soul until I heard him play with Damn Yankees. Always thought he played from the crotch on other records. High Enough is one of my favs.

Just curious about your comment about the shelved album. Have you heard some of what was to be on that release?

In what way was it "bad"? Quality or lack there of in the songs or did it have more to do with how it was engineered and produced?

That's interesting considering the talent involved. I wonder if that experience has more to do with why they haven't regrouped then the other reasons that have been stated. Maybe what clicked on the previous two albums just wasn't there anymore.

I loved the first album.

I saw them live and it was a heck of a show.

Never got around to getting "Don't Tread" though.
