"I'm not interested in 'retiring' retiring. Because what I do is not a thing you want to retire from," frontman and bass player Geddy Lee exclusively tells Billboard. "It's a great, great job. It’s a great thing to do. Making music is a privilege. As long as it’s interesting, it's worth doing."

Lee and his bandmate Alex Lifeson look particularly relaxed in the Billboard studio, where they chatted about their upcoming Hall of Fame moment, life in a rock 'n' roll band and their friendship with the Foo Fighters, who will induct the group during a ceremony April 18.

These days, Lee takes extra care of his vocal chords -- often resting this throat on days off. And on show days, explains Lifeson, he tries to hit the gym. Those days off, the guitarist quips, build up to "wine therapy."

The Canadian progressive rockers have always maintained a passionate fanbase. Ahead of this year’s ceremony, Rush fans created online petitions, Facebook pages and Websites to push for the band's induction this time. In years past, the band’s following was almost entirely male. Not so anymore. Geddy recalls a gig in Colorado which wrecked the notion that only men rocked to Rush.” There was this giant flag which said, ‘Mythbusters – chicks who love Rush.’ And it was a whole bunch of women standing around that flag. It was cool,” he says.

The trio, comprising Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, will be inducted at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre.
