Most Obscure Movie With a Major Star

Postby JRNYMAN » Wed May 01, 2013 2:24 pm

Continuing with the theme here... What's the most obscure or practically unknown movie you've seen which featured a major Hollywood star(s)?

The Hunger (1983) Not your typical vampire movie starring David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve and a VERY HOT Susan Sarandon (the lesbian love scene was exquisite!)
Great movie and am surprised all these years later that it never made a resurgence or became a cult classic.

Was watching a movie the other night, weird movie, called "Hick". Had nobody in it that I was aware of, and then all of a sudden, there's Alec Baldwin.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

That's pretty typical of Baldwin. He'll take jobs a lot of other actors passed on. Nicholas Cage is the same way. He's a huge risk taker with regard to movie roles. He's not afraid to explore lots of sides of himself and really enjoys being "manipulated like a claymation figure by the director."  Wish I could remember what interview that quote is from... I think he said it to James Lipton on In the Actor's Studio".

Actually Cage is taking any role he can get his hands on these days, hence a lot of crap films. He's got tax liens on everything he owns, got picked up for domestic battery, disturbing the peace and public intoxication. He's had a bad two years.

Wow, wasn't aware of his problems. The statement I quoted was actually from 5-6 years ago when he wasn't having a problem getting roles. It never ceases to amaze me how people who are seemingly on top of the world financially allow themselves to fall into such disparate situations like the one you say poor Nicky is in. I mean it would be one thing if every once in a while you hear about a high profile celeb who gambled or drank or snorted or... their fortune away but Jesus Christ, you hear about it all the time! Apparently these people don't learn from the mistake of others who have gone before them. If I came into a situation where I suddenly had more money than I could expect to make in 10 lifetimes, the first thing I would do is put a whoooooole bunch of it away for the rainy days that no one can tell me for sure won't happen. Then, I'll have some fun and maybe buy a nicer robe than the one I'm currently wearing or maybe let the wife get her nails done at an establishment that does in fact have a health inspection rating - you know frivolous things like that. :P

Now, now, let's not jump to conclusions... Maybe she asked him to do it or maybe he was researching a role for an upcoming blockbuster... we just don't know.

How's this for obscure? Hercules in New York! (debut of then-22 year old Arnold Schwarzeneggar.) They changed his name in the credits and overdubbed his voice due to his thick accent at the time. It's a really terrible film.

A few years before he became Magnum P.I., Tom Selleck starred in a horror film set in and filmed entirely in the Philippines, called Daughters Of Satan. It's worth checking out if you like 70s horror flicks.

No, I was just kidding. Ya know how they have every single frickin' stat for every movie ever made...? I was joking about "Total Number of Viewers... Ever" being one of them.
