Kid Rock Insults the Rap World at BB Music Awards!

Postby JRNYMAN » Tue Jun 04, 2013 5:25 am

This is awesome to the bone! Kid Rock is the presenter for Best Rap Song at the Billboard Music Awards. First he disses artists/bands/performers who lip sync to pre-recorded music that are supposedly live performances then he totally insults not only rap music in general but also the artist he presents! It's a good day to be a rocker!!!

I tend to believe that this was staged, clowning around, etc. and no one there took him really seriously. Because you know if anyone did, they'd a had his ass shot, stabbed, brick through the face, etc. by now. He was probably in the back drinking 40's with everyone before the show and told them he was going to come out saying this for shits and giggles.

I don't think it was staged, he always speaks his mind. I didn't see it as a diss to Rap either (as he raps in some of his songs as well). But it was a definite diss to lip-syncing. I was watching the BB awards and two separate performances (Chris Brown's and Selena Gomez's) were very obviously lip-syncing under pre-recorded tracks as they danced around during each of their performances). He was right on the money. :)

He's as disgusting as the rest. I'm no fan of any musician that puts filthy language in their music, when they know children will hear it. Sure, parents should be on top of this, but that isn't happening. It is in my house, but I I'm in a huge minority here.

I HATE that the music out there today is tantamount to musical pornography. It just dirty's up kids minds. It's absolutely unnecessary.

Amen!! I remember when Nikki Minaj came out a few years back. I can't remember what song it was, it was one of her first hits. This little girl was on Regis and Kelly, or some similar show, dancing and singing to one of her songs. The song was as FILTHY as FILTHY could be, and here a 3 year old who has NO CLUE what she is singing was being praised for it. It made me sick.

It's considered cultural differences and diversity. Get used to it. You don't like it.....tough. You go against it, you’re being prejudiced.

I'm being sarcastic as you probably already know. However, if you really look at the big picture, rap is considered a cultural form of art and has an impact on politics. That is precisely why there are rap forums taught on college campuses across the nation. I dislike rap like I do the plague, yet if I express my dislike for it, I’m tagged as a racist for doing so, and you would be as well.

I hate it too Rick. Not a fan at ALL, and I was pretty disgusted when the Army National Guard chose him as a spokesperson. I was like... WTF???

I do have to bust you out with one thing though... You use Richard Pryor as your avatar but are disturbed by Kid Rock's lyrics. Pryor formed entire SENTENCES without using clean words.  Which way do you want it???

It doesn't matter what I'm exposed to, I just don't want kids hearing about a guy "shoving it in her pussy" in their music lyrics.

I get what your saying Rick, but that is why I think parents need to be selective. Your not going to convince a secular world with self indulgent people to stop making dirty lyrics. I look at it as after a while what are you going to do for shock value? That is mostly what it is about is it not? Who can sell records on shock value? To me if that is what you rely on for popularity more power to you...but I won't own any of your garbage. After a while we will have seen it all and that won't sell records any more. I have to agree with the Richard Pryor thing...his stand up was mostly made with 4 letter expletives.      These days people let little kids watch and hear almost anything, they hear more cuss words at home than they would in a rated R film! People used to respect children...I am afraid those days are gone in many homes. I would just love to see parents love their kids enough to feed and bathe their kids. You would not believe what teachers see every day! So sad!

Talent is what should be standing out not shock. That goes for lip singing too...if you go to watch someone shake their booty around on stage then prepare for them to fake the singing. I don't know many singers who have the lung capacity to do both. That is why I don't think much of "singers" who dance on stage all the time. I did not notice Beyonce doing much singing at all during the Super Bowl...her back up singers had that job down.

Yeah!! AND.... in addition to what my colleague said, what's with your post above that reads:
"Whatever. I don't know what kind of fucking people would let their kids listen to that shit."
Can't have it both ways sir. Image :P

In all seriousness, Rick, I couldn't agree with you more. Not only is it vulgar, and unnecessarily so, it's degrading and very racist at times. And if that's not enough reason to despise it, they go the extra step and purposely mispronounce words or make them up. I'll overhear my daughters talking on the phone and say things like "I'ma be 'der in a lil bit". It makes my skin boil when I hear my white, educated, fairly-well raised daughters going out of their way to sound like hoodrats. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Back to what Jim said about Pryor... Yup, he and Redd Fox were as over-the-top vulgar as they get. They would spout of with stuff that would make a truck driver want to pull over and repent!

I feel like I need to clarify my reason for starting this thread. It wasn't because I'm a fan of Kid Rock's - I'm not. I like his song, All Summer Long and the duet he did with Sheryl Crow. That's it. I was excited about what he said and the way he said it with so much animation. Like Deb said above, he usually doesn't pull any punches and says what's on his mind and in this particular situation I believe he did just that. He wasn't insulting rap music in and of itself. He dissed lip synchers and then specifically "the 5 tracks that kept rap music rockin' our world this past year." In that respect, I agree completely with everything he said and did. As for posting the clip BECAUSE it featured him.... umm, not so much.

I agree with you and i've worked on both my eight year old daughter and seven year old son as far as music goes and i was able to turn my son into a full fledged rocker who loves rock music. My daughter unfortunately is very bright and wasn't letting me decide her musical choices, lol. and she pretty much likes all the dance/hip hop stuff thats popular and we've already had a few battles. Most of it is stuff like Hannah Montana and Justin Beiber but like most girls does like the pop/dance/rap stuff thats out today.

I love Kid Rock and one of my fav's is "Fucking Forty". I'm not a rap fan, per se, or the "gang war", violence, I have a chip on my shoulder because I'm not like the rest of the world, crap/shit. But throw in a cuss word every now and again, like "MOST" of the rest of the world may at one time or another, and I don't have an issue. I don't think I would've let my younger girls listen to "Fucking Forty". But I have taken my older girls to hear it live ...Love Kid Rock!!!
