LOL...I've not heard anyone on the right really praising Clinton. I've heard people, myself included, say that we'd much rather go back to the days of Clinton as President with the current buffoon and the one before him we've had in office.

I liked Clinton, intern beej and all, LOL! I don't remember anywhere near the number of complaints about him as I/we hear about O.

Because all those areas (food regulation, immigration reform, the 2nd amendment) have been conclusively settled since the Constitutional Convention of 1787, right? Your "sky is falling" mindset is pretty prevalent among right wing reactionaries who don't pay attention to politics unless a Democrat is in power. I heard this same paranoid garbage under Clinton, and now the Right is retroactively praising him. By the way, the government SHOULD regulate how much soda people can drink, especially when a growing number are obese and stuck with jobs that don't provide benefits. So why should I, as a taxpayer, be paying for people's diabetes amputations and stent procedures? This is the fattest and dumbest nation in the world.

Don't worry, under the Health Care Reform Act you will be paying for all of that and much more. And as for this being the dumbest country in the world all I can say is maybe you should look in the mirror since I assume your part of it.

The-Noble-Cause wrote:So you like to patronize a website that is run for the financial benefit of a man who believes in strong universal healthcare or as you call it, "having the government tell me what to do"? Just seems at odds with your troglodyte belief system. Pretty sure that Jeb from classicrockrevisited is a Tea Party red state kind of guy.

There you go again, just like B.O. trying to preach to me on what I should be doing. I don't care what the owner of this website personal political views are cause he has a right to them. Nor do I think he cares what mine are. I guess from your point of view, you investigate every place or business you patronize to make sure they are in line with your political views and if their not, you avoid them. That's very "noble" of you.

You mean we will have a form of universal coverage just like every other civilized country, including allies like Israel. Pretty scary. Mark my words, in 20 years time, the Right Wing and idiots like you will try to retro-actively claim the legacy of the universal healthcare mandate, just like you now pitifully attempt to do with civil rights.

I'm not the guy trotting out Hitler and Mao comparisons because the government wants to regulate slushies.

No, it's just very hard to take you seriously on a website that entertains all manner of free speech and dissenting views and is run by a guy whose views and country is far far far to the left of the US. So if MR.com is a taste of the socialist dictatorship in America to come, I say, bring it on!

Selective memory. The Clintons were smeared by the Right as murderers, communists, and drug runners and the end of the country as we know it. Same shit.

Yep, looks like we are going to make the same mistake that other countries have. The countries have it so good with the long waiting periods for basic procedures, rationing of care. Why It's so good in Canada that their citizens come over the border to the U.S. for treatment. I doubt that anyone is going to want to lay claim to this reform. Even agencies in our own government are already revised the nearly impossible costs to cover such a system.

I don't think I mentioned Hitler or Mao. All i said was that I don't like the government trying to tell me how to run my life like they are and that we have laws in place that guide them to avoid doing such things.

Can't help it if you are that narrow minded and can't understand that people that don't share your own views can respect that someone else has a different point of view. However it doesn't surprise me.

Sloppy Joe Biden will be Prez. before Ventura would be elected. Matter of fact, it's already in the works, that why we aren't hearing a peep out of Sloppy Joe in what's going on months now. He's out of the lime light distancing himself from all the horse shit that's hitting the fan right now with the current admininstration. Because when the time comes, Sloppy Joe will rush in and tell everyone that he needs to be the new "hero" prez. to fix things. Mark my words!

I have no doubt that he will make a run for President. I'm sure he feels that he has a better advantage because of being the V.P.. However, like always he will do or say something the fuck himself. He can't help it, which for the country is a good thing. I was just glad to get rid of him as my state Senator.

This is a common answer by right wingers who don't know anyone that lives abroad or has spent precious time outside of their own backyard. If the system is so bad, why aren't the people rioting ala Greece? Do you mean to say that every citizen in Japan, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Taiwan, are willing bystanders to their own death-panel execution? The US has never led the way in improving the ordinary lives of its citizens. Social security had to be ripped off from Germany. fer chrissakes. To quote Winston Churchill: "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing only after they've tried everything else."

As for Canada...quality of healthcare over there varies per province (which should appeal to a states rights conservative like yourself). And for every apocryphal nightmare story of a Canuck fleeing to the US for care, I can find you just as many of Americans fleeing to other countries for cheaper care. Either way, Obama got the job done. The same humane goal that Republican presidents, like Nixon, used to strive for, before the GOP became the exclusive domain of the Koch-suckers and their ignorant monied ilk.

I know someone. My 27 yr old cousin that lives in Canada that developed cancer. The doctors (in Canada) told him that there was nothing that could be done to save his life. However, one doctor came to him and told him about a treatment available in the U.S. and that it wasn't available anywhere in Canada because their health care system couldn't support it. Most of those citizens living the countries you mentioned have no choice but to accept the system they have. Except for a select few, they can't afford to go where the care is better. If you think that this reform is going to improve health care and reduce costs your fooling yourself. Even our government has updated the actual higher costs of the reform. Nancy P., the one who carried the flag for the reform is already back peddling her previous statements that citizens would be paying less. Notice how they have stopped promoting that families would save $2500 yr on health care? Also the U.S. has led the way at improving the lives of it's ordinary citizens. The ordinary U.S. citizen has a better life with more freedom then anywhere else in the world. In fact the libs are fond of pointing that out and how unfair it is for us to live in such luxury while millions in the third world live in depressed conditions. If this isn't the case then why are so many people from other countries are immigrating here on a daily basis? I don't know about you but, I am thankful for being born and living the U.S.. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

We already pay more here in the US than any other nation. There is a valid reason why Tawaian, when deciding to have a national healthcare system studied every nation's model except for ours. Why? Cuz ours is dysfunctional. Switzerland also made the switch to a federally regulated system in 1994, and has had much much better outcomes. Nobody in Switzerland is looking back to revert to the US model. No one.

Yea, rah-rah, apple pie, baseball, Jesus, WWF, American Idol. We are truly God's chosen blessed people.
America's vast ordinary citizens can be found at Walmarts across America, usually working two different jobs for very low pay, with no benefits. Freedom comes about when you are able to "pursue liberty and happiness" without being thrown out of your apartment. No such luck here in the USA, tho I can show you other countries with paid maternity/vacation leave, free higher education, healthcare, democratic worker boards...many initiatives that the US formerly would lead on, once upon a time. Nowadays, while other countries try to avert the fiery holocaust of global warming or extend the living standards of their citizens, we as a country debate whether or not Bubba has the right to own a platoon's worth of AK-47s and M-16's. Yep, that's progress alrite!

You seem to think that every country besides the US is some pol pot dystopian nightmare. I bet you think we are the only country with a constitution too? What an arrogant asshole. So much of the ideological, cultural, and political bedrock of this country was taken from other places, that's what makes us great, and here you thump your chest as if somewhere during the seven days of creation, god made America in its perfected unquestionable form.
