I'm hoping some footage surfaces of that. Those guys are supposed to be pros. 8)

I attended the "Device Voice Drum" DVD concert that Kansas filmed back in 2001 or 2002 and they stopped and started "Distant Vision" two different times. The first time, Phil busted a stick, so they started over. I can't remember what happened the second time...I think one of the guys just screwed up something, so they stopped and started it all over again. Of course, they were trying to film, and they did explain when Phil broke his stick that they would usually just keep going while someone got him a replacement but they wanted to get a good shot of this song, hence the starting over. They're one of the tightest live bands I've ever seen, at least back at that time but it was a rather comical time and everyone got a good laugh out of it. It also happened to be Steve Walsh's 50th birthday at the time.

Technical difficulties are one thing. Being out of sync is another. It's not like "Empire" is math rock or fusion.

Already discussed at length on Anybody Listening. Todd's in-ear monitors took a shit at the Mexico City gig so he couldn't hear himself at times and his pitch went all over the place. Two days later they were in Texas, he had a good set of monitors and the band resumed crushing grooves.

Funny, the Mexico City crowd still loved 'em. :)

Dude, could you be any more of an ass sucking fanboy? If Whip and Co. are so great..why did they cower in silence as Geoff kept dragging the brand further and further into sad cabaret territory? I'll tell you why...as Geoff said, they are "pussies." I have more respect for Geoff than Todd, whose comical hair thrashing moves would make Beavis & Butthead take up listening to Beethoven.

Seems like a badass rock show to me, and night after night, Geoff still sings his ass off.

Perhaps at one time they were but it seems they've grown a pair of balls since then.

I have little to no respect for Tate, spitting on bandmates during shows, telling crowds they suck during the concert, grabbing and throwing someone's cell phone...The list goes on. Tate, in his prime, is one of my favorite singers but he hasn't been in his prime since the early 90s.

Seems like a badass rock show to me, and night after night, Geoff still sings his ass off.

He sounds OK there but "Empire" isn't exactly the vocal tour-de-force that many other early Queensryche songs are.

Scott has said why. Because it was like a divorce. You hang in there hoping things get better. They didn't. The day came when the straw broke the camel's derriere. How would you feel if your singer and his wife hid funds from you and the other three guys? Judging by your posts, I bet you'd be pretty pissed off!

He sang his ass off a long time ago. The problem is he realized he couldn't put it back on and he was fucked.

Misappropriating funds for an O:M movie option they were paid for that should have gone to the whole band; bringing in outside writers who suck when Whip, Ed and Rock could have contributed; claiming sole credit for songs he co-wrote and claiming co-writes on songs he didn't even write the lyrics for; shaving his head making him resemble Anton LaVey...and the list goes on. The guy was once one of rock's best vocalist's, and now he's just a wine-peddling self-indulgent arrogant joke.

http://www.ghostcultmag.com/revolution-calling-an-interview-with-queensryche/

So when did you really started to sense things were starting to unravel when Geoff Tate was still in the band?

It’s been quite a while back to be honest. It’s been like 10 years. Things were starting to become uncomfortable. It was a slow process, but over time it became apparent that Michael, Eddie, and I were drifting apart from Geoff, especially when it came down to the music and the general direction of Queensryche. Why we didn’t take charge earlier was because the whole process was like a long and painful divorce. You know that things aren’t going right, but you hang in there, hoping things would turn around. You keep doing you best at it, but things kept getting worse and worse. It got to the point that we had to move out without Geoff. That point was the infamous spit incident in Brazil.

Do you keep tabs of what’s going on with the “other” Queensryche?

To be honest, I don’t. It’s just not important to us. We don’t really acknowledge it and nor we don’t have to, because we have so much going on. We choose to focus on the all the positive things that has befallen our band so far. We feel that we’re doing what Queensryche should be doing for a long time and the support from our fans around the world is just astonishing. We’re just moving on.

Proven wrong HOW? Todd sounds like shit in that clip. As they continue to tour, you can expect to hear alot of "inner monitor" excuses from the band. This forum, of all places, should be well-honed in the art of spotting BS excuses. Over on BackTalk (remember that?), it seemed every night Augeri had "monitor problems", "bad venue acoustics", "whooping cough", "pollen fever" etc. etc.

You can believe that if you choose. Just like people believe Perry's story about injuring himself while backpacking around Hawaii. I don't.

The only person playing tongue tic-tac-toe on Geoff's grundel-flap is Todd and the rest of the guys, who think they can mount a comeback at this late point in the game. Short of finding a diminutive metal-loving Fillipino on YouTube (or DeGarmo somehow rejoining), the band doesn't have a prayer.

That's the only gig that seems to have happened at. Explain how Todd hit all the notes at gigs earlier this year when he was ill. Comparing him to Augeri? That poor guy burned out because he attempted to sing beyond his ability. The band he joined milked his teats till they oozed dust. Then they threw him away and got another guy to make them some money. Then they threw that guy away because they stumbled upon another Perry clone.

Nobody expects them to reclaim their late 80s-mid-90s glory. Expectations are realistic. Tate's album sold 5500 copies its first week. You honestly think they're going to sell fewer copies than that when their album streets next week? Did you listen to the stream I linked? You can hear the whole album.

LOL. Go watch the Youtube clip with the A/B on Todd and Geoff singing "The Needle Lies" this year and tell me Geoff brings it. He lets the audience sing all the challenging stuff and he plays it safe with everything else (and still has problems). His guitar team is no Wilton/Lundgren, either.

I did listen. New album sounds good, still not digging Redemption. Wish they had been allowed to just do an EP as originally planned. Obviously a much better effort than FU.

Queensryche are just trying to copy Saxon vs. Oliver Dawson Saxon to get an extra 5 people into either of their gigs.

For the record I think it's funny Tate told crowds that they "suck".

New singer sounds better but just yet another clone. BORING. At least they can do the older stuff, but I choose neither.

If you listen to the new songs, you'll hear that he's not a clone, but he's definitely cast from the same mold as guys like Ray Alder, Jon Oliva, Tate, etc.

Just imagine James Labrie singing QR. Sucks, huh? There. You like Todd now.

It's rated the least favorite song on the CD by half or more of people who have listened to it. I include myself in that group. It's a solid piece of work, but I like all the other songs better.

Way, way more Alder. Only a couple moments reminded me of something Jon might do, phrasing-wise. Definitely none of the genuine Oliva "grit," though.

Eddie's one of the originals, so he's in Queensryche with Wilton, Rock, Lundgren and TLT.

Geoff's band consists of the Sarzo brothers (Robert plays guitar), Kelly Gray (guitar), Randy Gane (keyboards), and current drummer Brian Tichy.

And he's just filling in for the short-term. He was awesome in Foreigner as well.

Tate has started playing some of FU in concert. A little late it seems.

Yep. I hear both Best Bite and Walfart have the Special Edition, but I'm not sure if BB's has something Wal's doesn't.
