a 20.1 QB rating for that game...

Let's see how his predecessor, the "game manager" did..

Alex Smith QB rating against the Cowboys.... 95.0

Memorex wrote:Hmmmm. Not saying it was a great game, of course. But this is silly. I like Alex and hope he does well. Pulling for him all the way. And time will tell how well Kap will do. I hated the change when it happened, though I am sold now. You are comparing a long-time QB with someone that has less than a dozen starts.

correct.

Memorex wrote: And where was this comparison last week?

1 game comparisons really aren't accurate.. we'll get better data as the season progresses..

Memorex wrote:Will you do the same next week?

Probably.. it's real easy to do at NFLstats.com..

Memorex wrote:And are you comparing the Cowboys to Seattle?

Nope.. just Kap to Smith..

Memorex wrote:I mean, seriously?

No.. seriousley.

Memorex wrote:Did you forget to include information on our missing starters and the ones that went down mid-game?

Nope.. injuries are part of the game... kinda how Kap got his job too, remember?

Kap is the QB and Captain... he's a big boy.. and as they say.. "the quarterback being the leader of the team..." and "being the goat when they lose and the hero when they win"... at this point, Smith is kicking his ass..

Memorex wrote:The Niner's screwed it up but kept it close for three full quarters.Than they got really stupid and sloppy trying to play catch up in the fourth. Would have liked to see more discipline. But comparing this one game to one other game and saying he'd be called Crapernick is a bit of a stretch, no?

It was a defensive game from the start .. and the Hawks completely suffocated the Niners offense. When the Niners lost their composure and started making mental errors.. and penalties.. the Hawks took advantage like any team would and it was game over. The game was over 4 minutes into the 4th quarter when it was a 3 possession game.

And no, the comparison is quite "fair"... This year Kapernick has to take them to the Super Bowl.. AND WIN. Anything less is a failure.

The ironic thing about the Niners under Smith was that they were much more balanced... they played smart, disciplined football, not all that exciting.. but very very efficient... Last year with Kapernick, when they get in trouble, his athleticism was what got them out.. but that also destroyed the balance they enjoyed with Smith.. because they featured and used all their other weapons much much more..

This year they are trying to make Kap a pocket passer.. and now it's as if the team is struggling again to find "balance".. again...

That is what the Hawks did all night to the Niners.. attacked their balance.. most of the time Seattle played man coverage.. against the GREAT arm of Kapernick and the 200 yard last game Bolquin.. and look how well that turned out..

and the one thing that isn't talked about enough.. every previous week is a new set of game film to review.. and the Hawks just gave the league the blueprint for defensing the niners.. What the league just learned is that the Niners receiving core can't handle man coverage.. and Kap can only pass effectively against zone coverage..

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I about got the final score right, too. 20-14 I had. Close enough. Congrats, FF. But dude, come on, apologize RIGHT NOW. Say sorry to the rest of the country that had to watch an AFC NORTH matchup on Monday Night Football. 2 atrocious teams fighting to stay out of the basement of mediocrity. With the weapons Dalton has, he's a disgrace. The Steelers offense is beyond repair at this point. They are going through a Bad News Bears type of rebuilding phase. Their depth positions wouldn't start a game in NFL Europe. It won't get easier. I see the AFC NORTH going 0-4 next week...just like Week 1.

Tough to apologise over a Bungal victory, here in the 'Nati we take what we can get. But you are right about one thing, the Bungs actually made the Stealers look better than they are. It was a damn ugly specimen of a Professional football game that's for sure. I feel for ya dude, been there done that year after year. :D

The Steelers won the past what? 12 outta 13 meetings in Cincy? Don't apologize to Steelers fans, defiantly enjoy it, no doubt and I guess nobody should apologize with a dubya. I apologize to other teams fans who are getting use to seeing good football being played in an exciting new-age, scoring league. That was embarassing to the NORTH.

True, the Bungles made the Steelers look better than they are, but that's a more telling story to Cincy than it is Pittsburgh. We've been showing the trend ever since November of last year. Lost 8 of our past 9. Most were saying this was Cincy's year to make a Super Bowl push. No team in the AFC NORTH is sniffing the Lombardi.

The Cowboys/Chiefs game didn't phase me at all. Think I said "Shit", then changed the channel. That's not my normal reaction to a loss.

In a bold and surprising move, the Colts announced Wednesday the acquisition of Browns running back Trent Richardson for a 2014 first-round pick.

The Colts lost starting running back Vick Ballard to a season-ending knee injury last week.

The 22-year-old Richardson was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 draft. As a rookie, he rushed for 950 yards and 11 scores for Cleveland. In two games in 2013, Richardson rushed for 105 yards on 31 carries.

With their starting back gone just like that and depth at the position thin, the Browns will work out free-agent running back Willis McGahee, the club said Tuesday.

In 17 NFL regular-season games, Richardson has gained 1,055 yards and 11 touchdowns on 298 attempts. Though he’s shown intriguing potential — witness his bruising, highlight-reel run against San Diego as rookie — he has gained just 3.5 yards per carry. Moreover, he has dealt with some injuries.

The deal is stunning both in its cost and its meaning. First-round picks are not often dealt, and more and more teams have taken the approach that good backs can be found in later rounds.

For the Colts, the trade signals their willingness to pay the price to make a big deal, something G.M. Ryan Grigson displayed last year when he dealt a second-round pick to Miami for cornerback Vontae Davis. However, this is an even more significant move.

For the Browns, the move weakens their offense in the short term, but it also gives C.E.O Joe Banner and G.M. Mike Lombardi another first-round pick to use in next April’s draft. It also signals the Browns believed cashing out their chips with Richardson now was preferable to having him as their featured back in 2013 and beyond.

The Browns have started the 2013 season with two consecutive losses, their offense sputtering in both games. With Brandon Weeden (thumb) out for Week Three, the Browns are giving reserve Brian Hoyer the start on Sunday at Minnesota.

Time to be bold. At home, the Steelers intercept Cutler 2 times. Force a fumble. Markus Wheaton will catch his first touchdown pass and the Steelers score 3 touchdowns going to a more simplistic gameplan that actually involves a change in offensive philosophy, like using more of a zone-blockng scheme. Heath Miller could return sparingly. Jarvis Jones records his first NFL sack. Steelers beat the Bears 24-20. The entire AFC NORTH will be 1-2 by next Monday.

Da Bears don't play to well in Pittsburg. They are gonna go all out to not go 0-3.
Problem they have is they are just not very good. Bears are a work in progress but
Have the weapons to handle this team . Mike Tomlinson is a very good coach,
Dick l is one of the best in the business on defense, should be good.

Dumb son of bitch. This is multiple offenses which likely means game suspensions down the road. The 49ers continue to screw themselves.

Arrested at 7 a.m, blood alcohol level of .15, twice the limit...

Smith already has pending charges for possessing illegal assault rifles, and a negligence lawsuit filed months ago by an Alameda County man, Ronndale Esporlas, who was shot in the leg during the same party the police raided and found the illegal guns at, and a second lawsuit that hasn't been made public...

Smith is quickly becoming a liability...

Yep, DUI is one thing but a DUI, weed possession and crash combined must mean extra points. Too bad he couldn't score those extra points out on the playing field instead....

So much for clean and sober role models.

No big deal....he'll just show up at some charity event and sign a couple footballs for kids with cancer and it'll all be fine and dandy.

One of the best games this week and one of the hardest to figure out is the Green Bay Packers at Cincinnati Bengals.I think this will be a really entertaining game possible shootout between two really good teams.Another really good game will be Atlanta Falcons traveling to face a Miami Dolphins team that is 2-0 and beat Indianapolis and Cleveland on the road but face expected playoff contenders Atlanta,New Orleans and Baltimore in consecutive weeks. That stretch of games will tell a lot about this Dolphins team.I do think Pittsburgh has a good chance to beat Chicago at home in Pittsburgh however Chicago led the NFL with 145 points scored off 44 takeaways last season. so the Steelers offense already struggling will have to be careful of turnovers against Chicago's defense.

After watching Cincy against the Bears i am wondering of they are a bit over rated.
I think the Packer game will be a good indicator of that. A.J. green is awesome no doubt,
and I think there backup R.B. is better than the starter. I just wasnt impressed with Dalton
from that game.

I'm with ya on Dalton. He's the piece that's holding this team back and I wouldn't be surprised if they went hard and heavy after a QB in next years draft.

Crazy games in the AFC NORTH. Thought that division could seriously go 0-4 this week. Now, my Steelers face the harsh reality of basement flooding. Hopefully the NORTH posts a 4-0 record.

I'm watching the 9er game lmao... the Colts are playing the 9er receivers man-to-man.. just like the Hawks did.. and shutting the 9ers passing down..

27-7 Colts win..

Niners look even WORSE than they did last week....

Bengals beat Green Bay...
