I love this Patriots team, but I would be stunned if they scored 38 against anyone this season! They just don't have the weapons that they're accustomed to having on offense. That said, it's refreshing to watch this team play some defense, for a change!

Before blackout.

Baltimore 28
S.F. 6

After blackout: San Francisco scored 17 unanswered third-quarter points

Suggs is crazy but not sure how you can say the 49ers were rolling before the blackout.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are in the MLB Postseason;
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 0-4;
and the Cleveland Browns are first in their division.

Spot on with that comment. Nobody like to fuck with the NFL more than Belichick when it comes to the injury report. He had Tom Brady on the injury report for about 7 straight years with a "shoulder". The guy simply hates the injury report and finds it ridiculous that he has to tell everyone about the condition of his players. The Patriots certainly have their share of legitimate injuries, but no more than any other team in the NFL.

I think I wouldn't mind the pink so much if they had a 'blue' month as well (for Prostate cancer, which affects as many men as breast cancer affects women.) A little gender equality would be nice.

The whole pink thing is definitely overdone. Of course, you can't say that in everyday conversation because then you're automatically a sexist.

LOL,Yeah it does seem surreal. The last time i remember the Pirates doing really good along with Pittsburgh being mediocre while Cleveland was leading the division would be in the late 1980's a really long time ago.I think i was around 13 or 14 the last time it happened and i am really close to 40 years old now.

I promise you that Tom Brady couldn't care less about a TD streak. The only streak that matters is wins! That's about as inept as I've seen the Patriots look during the entire Brady era. The Bengals are an average team, and I'm not sure the Patriots are much more than the same thing. You can't even beat average teams in the NFL when you can't score a single TD!

Doesn't matter. The NFL is a 4 QRT affair. The game was 0-0 at that point and a players legacy is determined and stamped in these pressure-like moments. It's no coincidence. Romo, when the game is ON THE LINE, time and time again, throws the crucial and back-breaking interception. Every time. 506 yards be damned, he threw the INT that broke the camel's back that lost his team the game. It's not the first...or the last.

The defense, responsible for 14 points of the 48, did their job there, but they didn't do much to stop Manning and crew from racking up 51 points. You can have all the offense you want, but if you let the other team score at will, you're dead.

Interesting comparing stats for Alex Smith and Colin Kapernick after 5 games are in..

Image

SMith is leading in every category... except interceptions and fumbles..

The part I find ironic is that Harbaughs premise was "Kap gives the 9ers a better chance to win". Yet when simply looking at the stats..

Under Harbaugh:

  • Smith: 20-5-1 75% (and since the beginning of 2011 Smith has won 80% of his games. Only Peyton Manning has a higher winning %, and he missed all of 2011!)
    .
  • Kerpernick: 10-5-1 50%

Tonights game is no exception...

Kaepernick:
Passing: 6/15 113yds 1 TD
Rushing 14 yrds.

pretty average.. Smith like numbers.. in fact when comparing stats Kaepernick is putting up numbers that are less (read: worse) than the "game manager" Smith!

Given Harbaughs premise for the change.. and now that the 9ers are now back to running pretty much the exact same offense (running) they ran under Smith.. the point of the change is not only ludicrous, its quite literally moot.

Smith had been, and currently continues to be better at getting "W"'s by a mile.

Maybe Harbaugh doesn't care about "W'''s... how bizarre..

What's the hard on for comparing?

Allow me to point out (again) that while i wasn't a huge fan of what went down, it did have it's reasoning. Number one, money. If you say these guys are running about the same, game management-wise, then why pay one guy 8 times more than the next? Especially when the next guy is young and can be in the system that much longer?

And again - KC with one of the easiest schedules out there and the Niners (so far) with one of the most difficult. Does anyone understand this?

And again - our two main star receivers have not touched the ball this year.

I have no idea who will be the better quarterback over time, but I understand the finances. I hated when Joe went to KC and others like Rice went to the Raiders, etc. No one likes that. But there is this thing called the salary cap and when people in the NFL do well, they get paid and it drags on the rest of the team.

Can you image when Crabtree and Mannigham show up on game day to pull some coverage what possibilities might open up for this team? I hope it's as many as I think it will be.

I'm so jazzed for Smith. I hope he stays undefeated until the Niners beat them in the Super Bowl. :) Class guy.

I think Kap had an average day. Definitely need to see better from him, even with the receiver situation.

Smith's 2013 Salary had he stayed with Niners: $8,500,000 plus bonuses
Kaepernick's 2013 Salary with the Niners: $740,844

Now look at the chart again.
