Should Andrew do this?

Postby Rick » Thu Jan 23, 2014 10:00 am

I love this board and it's residents, but......it misses controversy. This board thrived better when it was controversial. Everything in the entertainment industry anymore thrives on controversy.

It may be time where Andrew needs to become mean and somewhat insulting. Maybe give mean, insulting album reviews. Maybe call out singers that suck, publicly. I know he does that already, but does it in a nice way.

Put on the gloves and mix it up. It might generate buzz, and buzz is what this site needs. Make MR the demon child of music world reporting. It's a very different approach, but it may be one that pays off. We all like to bitch, complain and generate controversy anyway. We're a loaded bomb ready to explode on something like that.

The "Tea Time In Buttercup Junction" name would have to go.

It was a better and more interesting board when it was a little "looser" but....also more of a pain
for Andrew.

I don't think my reviews will influence traffic on this board - BUT - I'm open to the idea of calling an amnesty on past banned users if any wish to return and behave themselves.

NOTE: Not included in such an amnesty is Blueskies and one other person of female persuasion who must never be mentioned!

What fun would that be. How about we let them in and require that they don't behave themselves? Let the other members manage them. Now that would be fun. Stevew2 can't post pics of his crank though. ;)

PS. Is it just me or is the "w" font on this board faded looking?

I've calmed myself down from my previous life on this board. For me, without Dean, I would just see us trying to imitate what it used to be. It's still a good forum, but there was a huge Journey interest that fueled that and a lot of colorful personalities with a lot of opinions. Some of them are still here, but trying to get them to just go off without reason doesn't seem right. You see it somewhat in the political forums though.

All for bringing it up past PG rating if it helps Andrew, but I'm not sure it will.

Fill in me posting a picture of an obese broad claiming it is a Steve Perry Fan. (yours truly AR from the 2006 MR Time Machine)

I must of not been around when Blueskies was here. Who and why were they banned? As for the board in general, we all get caught up in real life and I know mine is busier than usual right now. It seems like early morning's are the only time I check in and I do comment on things that are of interest. Politic's isn't one of them. Nothing you or I can do unless theres' a revolution. And most people are content, lazy, etc., to start one. I do always look at "What's Playing" cause I get turned onto to some new music that's pretty damn good and that help's when you just don't have the time to surf and check it all out. But, Ray Monteague? Really? And far as other poster's on the board, how come Beshad isn't here any more? Rarely read anything from him or Lynn, Michigan Girl, Angel, etc. Not even a peep.

Because its been dead here for months, the only thing that might pick it up here is letting Crazy blueskies back on the board

I've seen her mentioned here as some really bad person. A similar name posts on the forum below ... could it be her?

Lol!!! I was thinking about her as soon as I read your post.  This place definitely needs something to draw back some people. I feel like everyone has just moved on, and it's sad. There are a lot of great friendships because of this board and I'd love to see things like they used to be. I don't think it'll ever be quite the same without Deano, but it could still be great.

Nothing will match either of the 2 periods of Tapegate (which is right around the time I joined), and after Arnel was hired (Which was when I was banned. LOL). No point in even trying, really.

Not sure that is her although I believe she lived in Florida at one time , she moved to texas to be closer to another board member(the explosion that occurred between these two was just epic, over on Beshads board WTF). talk about drama , you couldn't write this stuff any crazier if you tried. Its probably still all there to read........Poor Larry

Great read man, thanks for posting it. I do go to small clubs and hear bands who are just starting out with my son. He loves it and thinks, like me, these bands travel some 40 miles to play, with their own money, barley make a dime, sell their cd's, T's, and whatever else to go on to the next gig hoping for a break. In my home I was always spinning my records or cd's with Halen, Kiss, Leppard, The Stones, Zep, Aerosmith, Floyd just about every day, still do. That being said, he loves Classic rock along with newer bands out there. He could care less about the pop junk, fly by night, 15 minute's of fame do boys that are force fed down our throats until whoever is listening to them grows up and realizes what a dumbass they were to listen to it in the first place. I try to seek out and find new bands that deliver. What I mean by that is when you decide to record an album, RECORD an album! Don't put just one or two good songs on them and have filler for the rest. Hone the craft. Take the necessary time and effort to record 10 or 12 great songs. If that happens, then no matter what, that album WILL sell.

Do it. The bump in traffic would be good. Let them misbehave!

It seems like a long age ago, but I miss my 'groper pub' regulars. We hijacked the 'Rant' board that was originally designed to be the 'anything controversial goes' board and started the 'Drunken Groper Pub' topic. I can't remember all the names...Kenny, Penny, doggy, Taliwakker, Serendipity, Bobbi Fleckman, the guitarist of Coastline, and several others...I think there were two dozen of us in total. I especailly miss Serendipity, because I used to trade music with her all the time.

I just as well assume they all live busy lives now. But they would certainly give this forum a shot in the arm.

We could always head downstairs and stir up the loons. That might liven things up a bit, especially now considering the rumor mill is in hyperdrive.

I'm starting to think we should all go off on the Loons that bought into this recent Perry/JRNY development. Anyone who has spent a reasonable amount of time here would have known what fucking bullshit that recent rumor was. Fucking embarrassing and laughable.
