Name one...........

Postby Deb » Thu Feb 13, 2014 6:36 am

........band or artist that is no longer together or that has past, that you wish you would have taken the time or had the chance to see LIVE.

For me, the first one that came to mind was INXS w/MH............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbKmD3xEhao

What a musical loss, after watching a biopic and BTM on Inxs and Michael Hutchence recently, he was such a unique soul, I found his story fascinating. A very shy guy in real life and just came alive once he hit the stage. I may have other vocalists I prefer more for their pipes, but when it comes to unique stage presence, he's got this natural sensual/spiritual presence when he performs that just captures ya.

Anybody here ever seen them live? Also, I see there is a TV mini-series coming out on their story. Is this just in Australia or has anybody heard of it on US/Canadian TV?

The Beatles, who broke up a couple of years before I was born. I would also have liked to have seen Led Zeppelin.

But most of all, I wish that I had gotten to see Journey with Steve Perry back in the 80's. Because of my age, the first Journey tour with Perry that would have been realistic for me to have gone to see them was the Raised On Radio tour. And it sold out too fast for me to have gotten a ticket to their Cleveland show.

I did see Steve Perry solo in 1994, however. And Journey with Augeri, Soto and Pineda many, many times.

It was before my time, but it would've been neat to see the Peter Gabriel-era of Genesis in a live venue. That would've been quite a show to see.

Went to Memphis in May 1990 for the Beale Street Music Festival...just to roam, people watch, and throw an afternoon drunk. Soon found out that SRV & Double Trouble were playing that night, and we made our way front and center. I've seen many great guitar players over the years, but this night stands out pretty much as the best I've ever seen. The Isley Brothers & Johnny Winter were there too. 'Not a bad lineup' is an understatement.

Btw, this is pretty cool - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSjRggiSBrU

As far as the original question - so many of the early guys, Elvis, Beatles, Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd (pre Oct'77), to name a few.

Deb - watched Part 1 of the mini-series last night (found a torrent). Pretty good and very true to the real story. Apparently it's supposed to be on DVD sometime soon but who knows when it will be available here. If you're into the torrent thing PM me.

Oh - and that would be my vote too. I can't believe I never went to see them - I think they played Calgary at least twice. I did see them with JD a few years ago and it was OK but . . . not the same without Michael :(

Marillion with Fish

I've seen them both after the split - and they ARE great. BOTH. Separately. And h roools.

I just wish I could've seen them in their prime: before the split.

When was the most interesting period live..? - Just before Misplaced Childhood. Pre -85.
