I see SP having fun and getting some enthusiasm back..

I love watching the dance between those two. You gotta get to the place and point in your life where you know whatever is said and done it is just part of the dance. I'm sure Neal knows it and won't let his hopes ever in a million years get too high; it's like the promise of an album or song; everyone plays their part under the overhead multi colored light which is spilling across the dance floor. As long as there is music playing; we're all going to dance. Otherwise, we'd leave this party if we didn't really like the music we're hearing.

Arrogantly? Really? Everywhere Steve goes he gets the Journey reunion question. He never brings it up, but it is always asked. There was absolutely nothing arrogant about his reply. If anything is perpetuating the reunion rumors, it's the "open mic for SP" comments.

If anything Perry said it with tactfulness, respect, and was pretty darn humble!

He always seems to be the one that takes the high road, while Neal continues to shoot his mouth off. Its like the adult dealing with a teenager.

I have no idea who runs Journey's FB, but after reading some of their postings,
like the one below...I can't quit laughing ...
Time to hang up the mouse...

https://www.facebook.com/journey

Journey.... What should be happening is Steve should at least shake Arnel's hand And THANK HIM in taking so much pride in carrying on his legacy and doing such an amazing job he's done and continues to do with much love and pride .... Yes Steve owes Arnel a thank you for all moneys that he is still gets payed from our live performances as well as keeping or catalog recordings very relevant.. Just a simple thank you would be nice and then jump on stage and show us what you got

I'd like to know who associated with Journey is posting crap like this. Obviously, not a very bright person, stirring up more sh*t ...complete with bad grammar and misspellings to boot. Makes the band seem small ...they should be embarrassed.

Yeah, I agree with you all, I don't get arrogant at all out of the way he commented on the subject. Maybe a case of Neal not wanting the distraction of Perry and the rumors before the upcoming summer tour season. Unfortunately, til the day they all call it quits, asking about a Journey reunion is always going to happen. It could also be a bigger issue.... If there was to be a reunion, does Deen get booted for Smith or is that a condition set forth by someone... Deen and Neal are very tight, he may not want that. Just my own mind spinning.

I also saw nothing close to arrogance in Steve's reply. Just a clear, concise answer to the same question he is asked over and over and over.
The FB post from them once again hits on the 'open mic' bit. Seems their camp might need some more oversight of what they are posting.

Removed the link as I just realized that was a story from last year.

"Due to the extreme importance of the Easter holiday in my home country, as well as the deserved widespread media attention on the upcoming election in Manila, the ticket sales for Journey’s upcoming show have understandably been somewhat slow,” Pineda said in a statement.

Easter is in late April this year. And even if Manila does back down from concert events during the Holy season of Lent, wouldn't Arnel – Manila's shining star – have known about this PRIOR to the band booking the show?

I am quite sure if there was no Augeri, JSS, Hunsicker, or Pineda, the Journey legacy album sales would be pretty much the same.
Its TV, movies, commercials, and classic rock radio has kept Journey relevant, not the touring.

I agree that touring has played a role. With that said, the majority of the publicity Journey has gotten is due to TV shows like Glee, The Sopranos, American Idol, The Voice..etc. For a while Journey was frequently brought up by Randy Jackson on one of the most popular shows...American Idol. Much larger audience when it comes to TV viewers versus touring. You can also throw in popular commercials and movies their songs have been featured in.

The Sopranos Finale and that MTV show (The OC? Laguna Beach? I can't remember...) were the biggest drivers of the Journey pop-culture resurgence (if you want to call it that). Touring did not put them back on the radar screen. Then again, it rarely does for ANY band. But fans were happy to have the band back on the road, and Neal and the guys were able to make some bread in the meantime. As Jon said, the Augeri era did steady, but quiet business. Under the radar, all the way.

The video was reposted again when the page got alot of messages asking about the rumor that the mod decided to post the video again so that people could once again hear Steve say that he and Journey reuniting was a rumor and its not going to happen and I guess the post was misread but it's all good. :) Geesh some fans either can't hear or they just refuse to accept it is not going to happen. Sad really. :|

I always enjoy studying body language when people are lying or being evasive. Nixon was the best at, not one hair would move on his body.

Check out how evasive his body language gets as soon as she asks about the new music. :(

Neal almost sounds like he really wanted SP to say there was a chance. Sounds jilted that Perry categorically denied the rumors.

He can claim all that "Arnel is king" baloney all he wants to, but if Perry actually DID take them up on the offer to come sing with Journey, no matter what shape his voice is in, it would ruin Journey for Arnel.

I agree 100%. I honestly think Neal thought there might be a chance, especially now they are supposely talking. It sounds like Neal was pretty hurt and expressed that by using the "Arnel is king" comments as if saying we dont need/want Perry back then anyways.

Neil knows that Perry carries Journey's relevancy in his back pocket under his coat tail, and Neil knows he'll never be able to have it. Neil took total control and gave Journey fans that cat turd "Eclipse", complete with packaging that made AOL's free disc packaging 15 years ago look like high quality stuff. Journey died for me after Arrival. I think the facelifts are cutting off what little circulation there was to his brain.

Guess you don't remember the laughable packaging for the concert giveaway cds of "Generations". Eclipse's artwork is pretty cool imo. Def not Stanley Mouse's type stuff, but still. Album rocks too. Guess you wanted more wedding ballads.

Yep, he sounds like the little kid who, when told he might get ice cream then told he's not, saying "I didn't want any ice cream anyway".

Plus, if there's any back and forth between Perry and Journey at all, even if it ultimately leads to nothing, it's good for Journey. Gives them exposure.

But yeah, Neal might claim there's an "open mic" anytime Perry might want to come to a show and sing with them, but I'm not so sure that's true.

Imagine if Journey's in San Fran and they say "Arnel's going to take a quick breather folks, and we have a special surprise for you tonight: Steve Perry!" And Perry comes out and sings one song. Crowd would lose its collective mind. Rest of the show would be a letdown. And the media would go beserk for 6 months or so. Would NOT be good for Arnel.
