Monster Recording Session at Kevin Shirley's Studio

Wow I'd sure like to be a fly on the wall for this one: Jimmy Barnes, Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Joe Bonamassa, & Keith Urban. All in Kevin Shirley's studio last week. Link to pics. https://www.facebook.com/CavemanProduct ... 7026457108

F Joe B. Way more excited about California Breed, the new trio consisting of Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Andrew Watt. New album is already done and drops in two months. Eddie Trunk played a song and it kicked ass. Real rockin' shit.

No, Joe was there Sat. and Neal and Jon on Friday. Not sure which day Keith was there.

Well I like both and I'm also looking forward to hearing Glen and Jason's new project. I've heard lots of good things about Andrew Watt so I'm anxious to hear what they've done. Jason said on his Facebook page that he thinks it is his best work yet. We'll see. I hope so. :D

My guess is that this is a Jimmy Barnes album. He has hinted at redoing some of the hits to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his solo career, so bringing in Schon/Cain for some of the Freight Train Heart tracks would be a possibility. Of course, he's also said he's working on new material, so...

The song that Eddie played, "Sweet Tea," had a raw and "immediate" feel to it. Not too polished, which was good. I hate overproduced shit. Glenn sang everything live, all the way through for every song, and AFAIK his demo'd vocals were so good they kept those after he completed his bass tracks post-guitar/drums. The drums sound earthy, very full. Right now I'm hoping the bass mix didn't suffer for the guitar and drums being so up-front. I like a lot of bass, ya know. :)

Glad to see that Caveman and Schon/Cain have buried the hatchet after the tumultuous Eclipse sessions.
Neal said on his FB page: "Doing a Jimmy Barnes session with Jonathan C and Kevin Shirley Fri... Should be fun"
So that settles it.
