When she was running around yelling Clark, I wanted to stick needles in my earlobes. Then I remembered it was an origin and she knows him only by Clark and Clark only because the Superman moniker wasn't givin' to him yet and there was no secret identity to hide but even today, I wonder why Goyer didn't give a "..fuckin bitch, stop yelling my Goddamn name out in the open! Idiot...call me Joe.." line or something.

Amy Adams is such a babe, though:

Green Lantern was big pile of steaming hot diarrhea and I'm a DC guy.

For what reason? I really liked it. Could it have been better? Possibly, we'll never know. I thought Reynolds to a fairly good job in playing Hal Jordan and I thought the suit was great. Mark Strong, the dude playing Sinestro was spot on. First films have to give some kind of origin and background on the character and how they came to be. GL stayed true to the comic and did that.

I thought Ryan Reynolds had the potential to be a great Hal Jordan and if he were to return (not happening) I could accept him back as Hal if done right and with a more attention to detail and better overall focus for the Lantern character.

Above all, the casting was right, especially like you said with Mark Strong as Sinestro, who was the Loki of the movie..total awesomeness.

But if there were ever comic-book movies 101, is that Green Lantern set the stage to never, ever CGI a superhero suit ever again. It was a pathetic rendition and overall laziness of cheap affects that made it look unprofessional and as tacky as ever. Reynolds has a great physique as well, so not sure why they would waste his body for a CGI-suit that looked fake as all hell.

I know the Green Lantern gets powers from being strong-willed in the mind to orchestrate and manipulate a Lantern power ring, but the suit should have been natural.

Everything else felt like a glorified episode of the Power Rangers. I was expecting the Putty-men to jump out from behind the bush's at any moment and give Lantern all he could have handled (though, that probably would have made the movie 10X better.)

Hector Hammond was an over-the-top Jim Carey and Parralax was a storm cloud. Reynolds was alright, but he lacked the wit and charm RDJR nailed down flawlessly as Iron Man and DC obviously wanted GL to be DC's Iron Man.

The DCUniverse is very hard to nail. Literally every other hero is complex in intergalactic, sci-fi type Gods with an insurmountable powerset that is tough to portray on screen to make it all work. What Thor is to Marvel to his world of Asgard is just a sliver of the tip of the iceberg for DC characters.

Zack Snyder is a polarizing director, but visually, he could pull a Green Lantern-type movie off the right way and make it as badass looking as possible.

I think I just prefer a more serious, real-world, gritty tone to superhero movies with a splash of dry humor in the right places with a more concentrated execution of campy, which is probably why I'll enjoy The Winter Soldier so much and the reason why I'm ecstatic that WB has found their niche in the way they want to portray their superhero movies.

Camp, whit and humor works flawlessly for Marvel. Glad DC is giving us that cutting-edge alternative, which will work well with DC characters.

I had no issue with Ryan giving it a shot as HJ/GL. A lot of guys got started in raunchy comedies and went on to (much) bigger things. *cough* Tom Hanks *cough*

The problems with GL are story and effects related. In certain scenes, the CGI is so bad it looks unfinished. It IS unfinished. It looks like a video game (and not one of the really good ones). The way some shots were framed toned down on the "epic-ness" of the sequence (like Hector Hammond barbecuing his dad). Having another large cloud-shaped antagonist right after the FF movie (wrong in so many ways, too) didn't help. And the climactic battle just...sucked.

Also, the GL Corps bowing out of helping Earth? Sinestro: "The Earth is lost..." Uh, NO. Half of the Corps would've been en route to help save the Earth. So that was bullshit. And the first battle with the handful of Corps members looked so cheesy, so "B-movie" bad, it made me wince. It should've been on par with an Avengers-type battle, and it was over with so quickly that it suggested they weren't ready to face such a menace.

But don't worry, Daredevil is probably worse, and it hurt more 'cause Frank Miller's run on the book is so legendary. Still one of my favorite all-time comics (at least till Denny O'Neil stopped writing it).

In an interview with Forbes, Snyder explained that even just seeing stand-ins wearing the costumes together has been impressive. “You have them standing there and they’re standing in the same shot — and then we have Wonder Woman, you know, all three of them in the same shot,” he said. “Even just for a test, you really have to go, ‘Wow, that’s crazy!’ Not only is it the first time that I’m seeing them, it’s the first time they’ve ever existed together on screen in a movie. And that’s kind of a huge deal.”

Count me in as one of the vocal few that thought GL was a decent superhero flick. To date, I have never seen a bad movie directed by Martin Campbell (Zorro, Goldeneye, Casino Royale etc).
