"E" from Eels discusses Perry on NPR

He talks about Perry for a couple of minutes around the 19 minute mark. This is the NPR interview that supposedly upset Perry on the eve of the L.A. performance at the Orpheum theater. Also, he performs Eels music live with just him and his guitar. I can sort of see what Perry likes. The man is definitely a thoughtful lyricist. I think Perry should record a lot of their music, and it would be a great combination.

Because E announces that Perry will 99% sure appear that night in the L.A. show. Apparently Perry heard this on the radio and was p-oed about it because he hadn't actually agreed to perform. It is mentioned by E in the concert footage on YouTube.

I'm 99% sure E was joking about Steve being upset. E has a dry, deadpan humor, and "Lights" had obviously been rehearsed and planned.

What nylady said.

That entire speech was definitely rehearsed and planned as part of the show.

I thought so too, but I am just relaying what happened. I don't claim to know anything behind the scene.
