Raleigh NC - May 29, 2014
Walnut Creek Amphitheater

I didn't jot down the setlist, but it's pretty much the same as the other shows so far this tour. Highlight for me was Jon's solo - it was a little instrumental medley of Patiently, WYLAW, Send Her My Love, and Why Can't This Night. Really just a tease, though.... I wanted the full performance of each of those! Kinda weird - but the PA had Journey playing between Steve Miller and Journey. Perry versions, no less. Heard Lovin You Is Easy, Where Were You, Troubled Child (?!), Wildest Dream, and a few others.

I was one of the winners of the "submit your fan photos" contest - so it really was intense to see my face behind the band during Faithfully.

Arnel sounded fine - jumped around plenty. The 2 Eclipse songs didn't go over well, but they were pretty short.

Thanks for the review. Cain's medley sounds interesting.

Springsteen plays for over three hours every night and changes the set for each and every show.
Wish Journey would adopt this policy.

No one would go or enjoy it. A select few would. Journey was never about marathon shows or that level of dedication to that sort of thing. Journey fans, to me, are not those kind of fans. Maybe we are, but most aren't.

What I'd love to see, as I would with a lot of bands, is for them to do their standard show in a city, and then a smaller club-type show where they do other stuff, have fun, etc. Like Cain talking about them going to the clubs with Waite and Steve Perry on drums, etc. That would be good to see away from the big pro show.

Here's Jon's medley he's doing before Open Arms. What a tease.

I LOVE that Neal now has a solo in Open Arms. There is nobody who marries their guitars solo's to songs like Neal does.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Yes, I like the extra guitar solos from Neal, also. Gives the song some oommph. Maybe, that'll make OA at least palatable to a lot of people here who seem to hate this song. Me, I've always liked OA ...think it's one of their best songs, structurally. Yes, the recorded version doesn't have much guitar ... but SP sang it so beautifully ... that's what sold it for me so many years ago.

Can't believe She's a mystery is in the set, worst song on Eclipse, I skip it every time. Human Feel would rip instead!

I am sooooo with you on that. As a fan of Mr Big, I can't tell you how Happy I was with their decisions last tour. They played the bigger venues (arena's etc) in Japan and played some festivals in US and overseas, but for the US leg of the tour, instead of packaging up and playing bigger venues, they decided to play smaller/mid size venues (House of Blues, etc) on their own. Was thrilled with the 2.5-3 hour more intimate shows.........you got all the hits but also a few old gems and at least half a dozen off their new album. LOL, so thrilled with the show in fact, that I actually trekked down to the US twice that tour.  For the band, it was probably the best of both worlds, large AND small venues on that world tour.
