Loons - you probably shouldn't listen.

The clip likes to jump to the 11 minute mark when you open it for some reason. Scroll it back to the beginning.

Unfortunately that is what a lot of "Soprano" era Journey fans and a lot of the general public will think.

Even Perry fans themselves criticized those who followed him when the songs were no longer in the original key much less a few steps down. What do you think the general public will do who are not hardcore fans (but still concert goers) if there was ever a reunion? They'd lap up tickets for sure, but a lot of them will act like O&A did when they heard him.

In Perry's defense they played the first Eels appearance. I know he's improved. Just saying outside of the hardcore fan base not all reviews would be as forgiving.

You are either a fan or not. Those that tear a person apart like that for being human are not fans.

This is also the kind of attitudes you get in the era of the disposable singer. "Having trouble with your original superstar lead vocalist? Find someone younger who sounds just like him." That model has worked, but then a segment of the audience accepts nothing less than things sounding like the record.

The "American Idolization" of music creates this kind of environment. Doesn't matter if your the original singer and wrote all the hits.

Perry is a little more immune to this than most because of his die hard fan base that are more fans of him than Journey. However the second a reunion would be announced with outrageous ticket prices he would go under the microscope. That's why it will never happen unless he really needed the money.

The general fan won't pay attention to it being tuned down. If they did, they wouldn't accept Arnel and wouldn't have given JSS a second thought. Just the fact that it's Steve Perry singing it will be enough for them.

O&A make a living making fun of others. Screw them.

There is tuned down, and then there is tuned WAY down. A half step or so is almost imperceptible to most people.

I think it's more an issue with the fans on this board who have been fighting about this forever....the average Journey fan that I have talked to around here thinks it's fine. MR Journey fans as Andrew has stated are another kind of fan.

I'm thinking that some part of him is just telling himself to sit back and enjoy this ride. Have fun. He's probably enjoying not being the ringmaster in the circus but rather likes being the celebrated invited guest.

Actually this was walk on number 3!

K.C.Journey Fan wrote:I saw Elton John six times in concert from 1971 to 1985. He was always stepped down live. Personally, I thought it sounded much better. Perry is much more then stepped down. I agree he sounded much better the second time. I'm still waiting to see where this goes. Doing two walk ons is hardly a comeback. Could be he just had some fun with friends, no more.

No... he's singing.. that's "doing something"... and a helluva lot more than he's DONE in the last 20 years...

The "doing something" you're referring to he did 20 something years ago... There's no rule that says he has to do that again...

It's gonna take him months to get his voice into the kind of shape to deal with the rigors of even a limited tour... if he's even thought that far yet... and he certainly doesn't need the money... just enjoy it for what it is...

I just accept it for what it is. Three walk-on performances, each one progressively better, from my fav singer. I never thought I would even hear a new recording of anything, let alone see new live performances on YouTube. Can't imagine what it would have been like to be in the audience when it actually happened!

Steve Perry I've heard of, but who the f@!* are Opie and Anthony? Sheesh, they should have got Opie Cunningham. Would have been more relevant and at least polite.

I've listened to Steve sing all 3 times he's been out there with The Eels and then I've watched a performance by Journey this year. If I didn't know any music by Journey or by Perry and the Eels and someone put a gun to my head and made me choose an act to watch I'd take Perry without question.

Nothing against Journey on this tour, but from the clips I've seen the band just looks like they're boring. Perry on the other hand looks like he's having a blast up on stage and IMO I prefer his voice at this point then Arnie's voice.

O&A are New York-based radio personalities now on Serius/XM. They always came off as fans ofJourney and Steve Perry. Anthony's brother was a member of Evolution (with Hugo), so Journey music was played and talked about on occasions on the show. I vaguely remember them mocking Augeri during Tape Gate for not being able to hold up to Perry's standards, and there was even a Youtube video floating around one time of Anthony singing Any Way You Want It at a bar.

This is just another opportunity for them to do what they do best...sh*t on other people's happiness.

And these 2 have the gall to call themselves Steve Perry fans ... no fan would be so mean ... well, maybe just the 1 guy was laughing and saying the hurtful stuff . I agree, this is not a comeback...Steve is only having some fun, and probably doing it for his fans , who have been pleading for years to hear something from him. A money grab!?! ... Sheesh.... people are so ignorant. We all know Steve is not without, and he certainly doesn't need to be made fun of, either. Hope he doesn't hear the sh*t that's thrown around out there.

Anthony of 'Opie and Anthony' Fame Fired For Twitter Rant

http://www.thewire.com/business/2014/07 ... nt/373966/

... The firing comes after Cumia went on a Twitter rant, using profane language and making derogatory remarks about an African American woman who assaulted him in Times Square. Cumia was taking a photograph of the Square, and the woman believed she was the subject of his photographs.

The unidentified woman allegedly hit Cumia more than five times while calling him a "white motherfucker." Cumia took a photo of the woman moments before she hit him, then posted it to Twitter with a profanity laced tweet.

At the time, neither Cumia nor the woman involved reached out to police officers. After the incident, Cumia sent a number of tweets, calling the woman a "****" and a "savage." ...
Perry's good natured bonhomie & the world’s most charmin smile, knocked fans off their feet. Sportin a black tux, gigs came alive as he swished around the stage thrillin audiences w/ charisma that instantly burnt the oxygen right out of the venue.TR.com
