... 'Wistfully, Schon gave a subtle nod to the band’s former frontman, Steve Perry, introducing “Lights” as a song from “a really old album” which was the second song he had ever written with a “really old friend,” going on to reminisce about how they had crafted the song, which would eventually wind up on the band’s Infinity album, together in former Journey keyboardist Gregg Rolie’s house.' ...
Perry's good natured bonhomie & the world’s most charmin smile, knocked fans off their feet. Sportin a black tux, gigs came alive as he swished around the stage thrillin audiences w/ charisma that instantly burnt the oxygen right out of the venue.TR.com

Schon intro'd lights by saying it's not about LA its about San Francisco...

They played "She's a Mystery", "Ritual" and "Dead or Alive" (instead of Tantra, Never Walk Away and La Do Da).

Good crowd.....with a series of T-storms running through.

Probably the worst GH crowd yet. If it wasn't a hit for Miller or Journey.....sit down or piss.

Once again...funny

Yeah...Well ... why does Neal have to be so snippy about it???? Thanks, Tater, for the link. Hey, Steve originated the song concept and brought it up from LA...the 2 crafted and finished the song together, named it Lights. Don't understand Neal's need to set the record straight everywhere they go. Like NYL said below (I mean above) ... unless someone in the audience is from SF or LA ... who cares?

Why shouldn't Neal say that? By that token, why does Perry have to bring up the issue of his "original" intent of the song at all. I am originally from SF and it matters to me........because San Franciscans hate LA.

Where were you people crying about this LA thing back in 1980 when Perry is recorded on a live album (Captured) saying " We wrote a song about our home town San Francisco. It's called lights."

SF-Dano ... you and I have something in common ... I love all Bay Area teams and hate all LA teams since Big Brother got me hooked on watching professional sports when we were tikes growing up in the City (many, many yrs ago). I love SF weather and hate the LA smog.

Let's analyze this thing. SP did not speak untruth in either case. He said the song originated in LA. Where's the lie? We know Steve was living in LA for years trying to make it in the biz. He brought the concept idea with him up to SF when he sat down with Neal to write songs. They crafted the song about SF and called it Lights ...exactly what SP said on Captured (live, 1980). Where's the contradiction? It's Neal that's trying to make something out of nothing ...c'mon, he's mentioning it at every concert. Why can't just let it go?
