because San Franciscans hate LA.
Where were you people crying about this LA thing back in 1980 when Perry is recorded on a live album (Captured) saying "
We wrote a song about our home town San Francisco. It's called lights."
SF-Dano ... you and I have something in common ... I love all Bay Area teams and hate all LA teams since Big Brother got me hooked on watching professional sports when we were tikes growing up in the City (many, many yrs ago). I love SF weather and hate the LA smog.
Let's analyze this thing. SP did not speak untruth in either case. He said the song originated in LA. Where's the lie? We know Steve was living in LA for years trying to make it in the biz. He brought the concept idea with him up to SF when he sat down with Neal to write songs. They crafted the song about SF and called it Lights ...exactly what SP said on Captured (live, 1980). Where's the contradiction? It's Neal that's trying to make something out of nothing ...c'mon, he's mentioning it at every concert. Why can't just let it go?
