Even with those losses, $668 WW is still a SOLID number at the BO, ranking the third-biggest non-sequel superhero comic book film, and much of its $225m budget was paid for via product placements, not to mention the killing it's continuing to do in Blu-Ray; DVD sales.

It's no use trying to explain it to him. That summer had one of the most overstuffed release schedules in history. MoS has grossed between $750-800M as this point. BvS will make a billion dollars. Verstrodamus has spoken.

The Zod neck snap happens at the end of the movie. And while I didn't think the scene had any climactic dramatic weight or impact (as it was clearly designed to), I really doubt it factored into anybody's opinion on the overall quality of the film. For me, it was just like the scene where Kevin Costner allows himself to be swept up by the tornado. Goyer and Snyder are going for pathos and instead are eliciting unintentional chuckles from the audiences. That is MY opinion. If those heavy handed scenes clicked for you, then great. Nolan was able to walk the fine line between Ivory merchant drama and spandex heroics in a way that Snyder clearly cannot pull off. By the time of the neck snap, I just wanted to leave the theater and take a piss. Was it the deciding factor in me getting or not getting a Henry Cavill Happy Meal toy? No, no, not even close.

I doubt the neck snap thing meant anything to anybody.

The only issue for me is it seemed I had seen it all before in Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek. In fact, now that you mention it, the entire "going for pathos' thing is also BSG as in waiting for over-dramatic stupid events to happen in each show....which is my biggest critique of BSG....the writing relied on it to prop up the "drama".

All of this "doing something new" just isn't true.

Why, yes, it does. Not at the beginning, nor in the middle. In the end. :P

Oh, but it did, grasshoppa. Mark Waid, writer of Superman: Birthright, literally yelled NO! in the theater. He took to the web and stated his extreme dissatisfaction and disgust with that moment. It ruined the film for him. It's like that with a lot of people. YngJRNY and I joke about a user called Kurosawa, an old school Superman fan, who lamented the dark tone of the film and the neck snap endlessly — I mean endlessly — in the CBR forums. Many, many people, even non-readers, were seriously bent out of shape by the neck snap because "Superman doesn't kill." There was plenty of chatter in the IMDb forums, too.

Superman killing Zod in MoS was EVERYWHERE and still is. The impact was pretty large. If you think 3 people on a Melodicrock music forum can go 15 some pages with over 2,000 some views on the same topic whether or not the movie was liked or dislike or not, then what do you think it's like elsewhere where actually hundreds of fans have a voice on the actual genre's community websites?

No matter what the discussion may be, you bet your ass Man of Steel is still being talked about with its rounds. It's amazing to see it still being a controversial thing when we're well over a year in. It's not just like this here and v said it best. Love it or hate it, Man of Steel made an impression, regardless while raking in $100,465,693 in Blu-Ray/DVD home video sales. That's a lot of fools

DAVID GOYER: MAN OF STEEL’S SHOCKING ENDING WILL AFFECT BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN
David Goyer says Superman's controversial actions at the end of Man of Steel will likely come into play in the film's sequel.

Goyer, who is also penning the Man of Steel follow-up, recently spoke about the climactic scene in the first film that saw Superman kill General Zod in order to prevent him from taking more innocent lives.

"We were pretty sure that was going to be controversial," Goyer said at the BATFA and BFI Screenwriters' Lecture, according to Digital Spy. "It's not like we were deluding ourselves, and we weren't just doing it to be cool. We felt, in the case of Zod, we wanted to put the character in an impossible situation and make an impossible choice."

Goyer adds that Man of Steel was "in a way Superman Begins" in that the character as we traditionally know him doesn't show up until the final moments of the movie.

"He's not really Superman until the end of the film," the writer continues. "We wanted him to have had that experience of having taken a life and carry that through onto the next films. Because he's Superman and because people idolise him he will have to hold himself to a higher standard."

Detroit helicopters spotted BvS filming in a downtown area. Tons of rubble was said to be on location. One of the choppers did a flyby and in the rubble, spotted a "Wayne Financial" logo:

Supes could've dropped a piano on Zod's head. Joe & Jane q. Public couldn't really care less. Time to turn off the computer and get some sunshine. It's a BIG deal to a negligible percentage of moviegoers. Do diehards care? Sure. Does it matter? Nope.

Maybe it is. Maybe that's why it's sucked in $100M+ in DVD/Blu-ray sales.

Or maybe it isn't, and you're just out of gas.

I think you two bed wetting homos are high on the sulfuric gas vapors of your own prolapsed anuses. In geek speak, that means u two react to pussy the way Superman reacts to kryptonite. The only thing out of gas is the MOS franchise which needed Batman to salvage it after only one exceptionally shitty movie.

I'm on my smartphone, dickbag. Stop wasting ur allowance on comic books and vaseline and join the 21st century.
And the sunshine reference was for you queers. When one thinks Zod getting his neck snapped is somehow the cinematic equivalent of "Oswald kills Kennedy" or "Man Walks on Moon",then, yea, it may be time to put on pants and rejoin society. MOS is a movie nobody cares about except the MR homo brigade.

That level of zealotry described above is achieved in one single post by none other than yourself  Coming from somebody that argued countless of years and hours as an expert, all-knowing-ass about chest cavities, vocal technique, vocal registers, range, pitches and falsetto simply by putting his ear up to his mothers computer speakers and using that against the evil inbred's that are Augeri Backtalkers on the Journey website truly is a rich thing. I've facepalmed more times reading your posts as the head of Journey Homeland Security and putting people in place as to how "Send Her My Love" is really supposed to be sang, followed by some disturbing insults along the way. You're way more equipped to break down the famous Herbie Herbert interview in flawless verbatim or act as though each cyber Journey-cumshot you took to the face makes you an expert at Tapegate or Neal Schon's height but no....it's the Batman V Superman thread that is blind idolization

You're bringing that same reputation that made Melodicrock's insanity across the interwebs and applying it to something as simple as a movie thread. You are the epitome of attacking the poster and not the post. It's amusing.

Blah blah blah. Quite an incomprehensible word salad. Get a life, dude. I have no idea what Tapegate has to do with any of this. Ancient history. If you don't believe it, too bad. Voicemails on Deano's phone from Neal talking about it would indicate otherwise. And that was long after the whole fiasco was already a public secret. Augeri was a fine frontman and Arnel is really proving to be the little singer that could. The band's continued success makes me happy. It wouldn't surprise me, however, to learn that you were in deep denial during that dark period. You seem to like it when fans get screwed. Be it Warner Bros's cynical attempt to fleece fans by adding Batman in the ninth inning stretch, or concert vocals that are about as live as your favorite scratched Katy Perry cd in your car. Either way, you clearly like nothing better than to be bent over a sawhorse, spread wide, and fisted by the spiked biker glove of humanity.

Nah, I'm pretty sure RedWing and myself have attacked the movie on it's own creative terms. In fact, I was just discussing the climatic neck snap and Kevin Costner's demise. This is a public message forum, not your bedroom, where globed Kleenex line the floor like landmines in the DMZ. If you can't take criticism, go eat Zack Snyder's hole elsewhere.
