Anyone miss the "Evening With..." shows?

Postby PianoMan1986 » Wed Aug 13, 2014 2:09 pm

Although I'm glad to see that on this tour Journey played some Eclipse cuts and interact with their tour-mates, but like many fans (I assume), I'm tired of the triple bill tours. Searching online I was able to find the setlist for the first Journey concert I went to...I forgot how great of a show that was with the material played. By no means do I want to see Journey go out and trash another singer's voice, but I do miss shows like this one.

Cool, I didn't realize they did The Time ever.

I much prefer the evenings with but the double and triple bills do force me to see other acts, and in the case of Peter Frampton really opened my mind....

The "Under the Radar" tour was pretty much the Red 13 tour. State of Grace and The Time got played.

Oh shit..I got that mixed up with "Walking Away from the Edge" for no reason whatsoever. I'm an idiot.

Still would like to hear the best tune on that EP live: "I Can Breathe"

That Springfield show was the very first concert I took my then 11 year old son to. He was hooked from that point on.

The one song I absolutely love is "Faith in the Heartland" and I like Arnels version better, and I know it's not part of this discussion, but that's a great song for a concert and should be played.

I want to say that was the first time I had seen them too, at the Springfield show. I saw them then, on the main event tour, the summer de-tour tour, the 30th anniversary tour, the 2006 tour with Jeff Scott Soto, and it was either 2007 or 2008 Revelation tour with Heart. Out of personal opinion, I like both versions of Faith in the Heartland; the Augeri version because I remember hearing the initial clip before Generations came out and I was excited and the Arnel version for hearing a different take on a song that deserved a second chance.

I became a fan of that song with the Augeri version. Generations suffered from terrible production, though, and when I heard it on Revelation, and Arnel just killing it, that became my favorite version. I also enjoyed the faster pace of the song. I did prefer the longer lead-in with the Generations version though.

Nope, lifeless detuned songs live don't cut it. No thanks.

I will say that I'm willing to shell out some bucks if the rumors prove true and a double bill of Santana and Journey happens for the sake of seeing Neal (and I would hope) Gregg play between the two bands.
