Postby montyollie » Tue Sep 16, 2014 12:35 pm

Details have been released for the upcoming public memorial for Jimi Jamison. Looks to be created by his wife and kids.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/lovemusicjimijamison/

This page has been created for all information and questions relating to the memorial celebrating the life of Jimi Jamison. The memorial will be held September 23, 2014, at Central Church (2005 Winchester Blvd, Colliervile, TN, 38017) beginning at 7PM. Everyone is welcome at the memorial, so please feel free to share the page and invite friends. Thank you all for your love and support, and we hope to see you there.

I talked to my boss today... I was off work for the past EIGHT WEEKS, as I had surgery and just went back three days ago. September is our busiest month and I had the gall to ask her for three days off to attend this. I live 13 hours away -- it's a day's drive in each direction, so I have to take the Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday off. Grrr. It's okay, she granted my vacation! That's how important this is to me. I still can't believe he's gone.

I would love to go to it, but I can't afford the travel costs.

Thanks for the info, though!

That memorial will be exactly a month after Jimi's birthday.

I can't really afford it either... probably sleeping in the car at a truck stop, but I don't care!!!

Maybe a bunch of us should carpool and split on a motel 8...

Was in Kroger on my way home from work yesterday. They were playing The Search Is Over in the store. What a voice. RIP

Wish I could attend.

Were hoping to go , I have all ready bought greyhound tickets for the return , there very for 2 people coming from Chicago (about) 10 hours it's $68 for 2 . Were suppose to be driving up with 2 other friends . I might have to have a small surgery I just found out yesterday that will ruin all our plans :( . I hope who ever is going has a safe time getting there. We have planned to go to Graceland while there , been trying to get there all my life , too bad it has to be under these very sad circumstances . Now we will be honoring 2 Kings when and if we can get there .

Let me know here if anyone is going. I'm leaving in the morning to hit the road. I'm coming from near Buffalo NY so SERIOUSLY if anyone on the way (Cleveland, Columbus OH, Cincy, Louisville etc.) wants to tag along with me, there is room in the car. I'll be camping most likely as funds are tight.

Also wouldn't mind hooking up with anyone at the event as I'll be alone (although you are never alone when surrounded by fellow fans).

Sooooo looking forward to this. It really means so much to me that I get to go. Rumour has it, Peterik will be there and there might be a small reunion and performance.

Thank you for the offer! I would take you up on it, except I have an appointment that day with a doctor that I'd been waiting months to see.

I'm in Cleveland, so I'd be on the way too.

I really wish that I could go honor Jimi.

If you see Peterik, get him to get his ass back in Survivor!

By the way. I have relatives that live in a suburb of Buffalo. One of which said that she had a crush on Jimi back in the 80's. I found that out well after I had become a huge Survivor fan.

There 4 of us coming from Chicago , full car and long drive , once we get there that won't matter , we will all be friends . Going to Graceland for first time ever before we head home . Jimi told us this was the year to go a couple months ago . Had no idea when we finally do get to Elvis home that we will be honoring 2 Kings !

In my mind, Jimi was kind of the successor to Elvis. Both were from Memphis, Jimi was a big fan of Elvis and met him, Jimi did a good Elvis impersonation, both were very soulful singers and treated their fans great. I know that one of Jimi's relatives worked at Graceland at one time.

Those of you who are going, please fill us in on what we missed. I hope you all have a good time, despite the sad circumstances. And I hope you're all safe while traveling.

Passed right through Cleveland last night!

I'm halfway between Nashville and Memphis right now refueling and pilfering McRaunchy's wifi. Long long drive. I don't know how I'm going to do in one day what's taking me two to do.

Regardless, I feel compelled to go. Apparently there is an charity event tonight at a bar and Jimi was supposed to perform but instead they are donating his hour to a tribute to him. I'd like to go to that.

Anyone know any details about Jimi's memorial? Did Peterik and Sullivan perform at it? Were any of Jimi's band members from Target, Cobra or his solo band there?

So, if I understand correctly, EVERYONE was welcome to attend the memorial?

It didn't require a special invitation?

you could've gone to the memorial.....no invitation needed.....as to why the band didn't show up.....I mean the ''real reasons''......we'll probably never know.....and who cares anyway.....none of our business.

I thought that it was said that Marc is only on temporary leave from the band?

Does anyone know for sure?

Let me tell you : I WOULD BE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SURPRISED if he comes back......

The fact he showed up is another proof that he won't go back to Survivor I think.....but it's just my opinion based on experience on the subject of SURVIVOR and nothing more.
