Bootleg. You can get this stuff for free if you search around the internet. I'm all about live stuff and bootlegs, but there's absolutely no reason to have to pay for this. None of it is going to the band (or, more importantly, JSS).

Since it's titled "reprise" i assume they faded into "Anytime", then back to & completed "A lot to learn...."

I've only had the chance to watch the first 2 songs. Apparently, this was originally recorded by:

"Music from the Middle of Nowhere proudly presents: The Storm live at The Santa Clara Fairgrounds in San Jose, California August 14, 1992."

Frontier Records should get the rights and remaster the footage and release it. God knows Interscope doesn't care. I'm a little surprised that they never bothered to video the band. I'm also surprised that they played for over an hour as the opening act. Did anyone record Brian Adams or whoever the main act was?

Next up someone should find The Bammies with Michael Bolton singing with Journey and the Herbie Roast.

I'm half way through the show. I'm a little surprised there's not more fan reaction here. I thought this place was full of Storm Chasers.

I see that Chalfant still sings with his head down :| And he's not anymore lively now than he was then.

Josh Ramos- bless his heart- is the only one really trying to put on a sexy lead guitarist rock star vibe. He's so desperate for groupies. The unbuttoned white shirt, the gold chains, and the tight, black leather pants. He looks like JSS' brother. They should be in a band together.

What's up with Ross? That mullet doesn't help matters. But I thought his whole shtick was being the funny man :P . I don't see him making any faces here.

The camera doesn't ever focus on Ron Wilso much.

Gregg Rolie. I'm glad to see that he came out from behind the keyboards twice to sing. But I just don't think that wimpy little synth did him any justice. I want to see him whip out his world famous organ and finger and play with it for the adoring masses. Plus I'm not seeing the chemistry that Storm Chasers (I'm calling The Storm fans Storm Chasers now  )seem to think is there. For me, Rolie-Chalfant here isn't as good as Rolie-Perry as singing "She Makes Me Feel Alright".

I’m with you, FF. Seriously, never understood all the clamouring on about the Storm and/or why did KC keep getting passed over as Journey’s lead singer/frontman around here. Watched the whole show, thanks for starting the thread topic. The songs didn’t do anything for me. Simply no comparison to what Journey has done.

KC can go high, no doubt about it, but lacks a richness to his voice (imo). A great singer, one who can move the listener, is not all about high range – everybody knows that. SA, for all his perceived deficiencies, did(does) have a pleasant vocal tone. His laid-back personality probably also fit in well with NS/JC.

That being said…there is a connection among the players with the band Journey, and is deserving to be included in discussion as Journey history.

I still haven't finished the show yet. But I'm starting to wonder "Who was the weakest link in The Storm?"

Josh Ramos was there and ready to work.

But Ross seemed neutered, like he was taking it way too seriously. He basically stayed in the back in his little corner.

Kevin Chalfant didn't dance and barely interacted with the others. Even though he's been in tons of bands (even at this point)- the best part of watching a band's music videos is seeing how they interact- playfulness, joking, smiling fun like Van Halen's "Jump" or Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer". I didn't get any of that between Kevin and Gregg. Josh stood next to Kevin a couple of times, but that's it. Since he's the lead singer, it means that the blame would tend to fall on him. He really needed to work on stage coverage. There's a big difference between him and Steve Perry in terms of showmanship. Even between him and Steve Augeri. Augeri's band at least has some female back up singers for variety.

Did anybody even acknowledge Ron Wilkso?

And I'll never get why Interscope and Herbie didn't push Gregg as the star-face of the band. Or Josh as the lead guitarist. It's almost like they were trying to avoid "Lead Singer Disease", but you kind of need LDS in order to sell a band. Everyone sang and played competently. No issues at all with their performances. But collectively, they lack *IT* "Star Power".

Yeah, cuz what Journey needs isn't a strong singer with great song-writing ability. They need a guy who can dance and goof around on stage!

Part of being a lead singer of a ROCK BAND is that you have to be a showman and make people like you and want to see your concert and more of you. Chalfant wasn't selling it, he was giving it away :?.

I finished the show.

"In the Raw" was a very weird song with the announcement of the naked woman walking down the street in nothing but cowboy boots and handcuffs being arrested  .

Things did pick up during the second half of the show. I liked hearing "Just The Same Way" and "Anytime". And it was good to hear the audience sing along to the chorus of "I've Got A Lot To Learn About Love". Though it wasn't an entire arena singing "Faithfully". Why didn't Josh Ramos take off his shirt entirely? You know he wanted to, he looked like the only guy in the band interested in groupies  .

And if people can make fun of Steve Perry and his cowbell, then Kevin Chalfant and his tambourine should be up for a few laughs  .

I just found this with another random search. The date on this review says May 20, 1992 and was written by Adam Sandler

So this would have been 3 months before the San Jose, CA show.

Bryan Adams has apparently perfected the art of pop song-crafting. His recent two-hour show at the Forum was filled with power chords and catchy hooks, and all of the tunes have had extensive runs on radio.

But it takes more than pop-radio hits to make a concert work and Adams failed to reach any level above mediocrity.

His static stage presence and trite, riot-related between-song remarks contributed to his failure to score even with those on the floor, who were standing more out of visual necessity than inspiration. The majority of those in the loge seats remained planted throughout.

Although a blistering rendition of “Touch the Hand,” from his current A&M album “Waking Up the Neighbours,” served to slightly pick up the energy level, the bulk of Adams’ power ballads fell short.

The brakes were further applied by the tiresome albeit Grammy-nominated ballad “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” against a hokey, forestlike backdrop.

The band’s use of a tiny platform in the right-center of the house floor was apparently designed to leave the audience with a money’s-worth feeling, as Adams devotees were permitted to flee their seats and surround the miniature stage.

But it was too little, too late, being used just prior to the encore numbers, which included “Summer of ’69.”

Opener the Storm is Interscope Records’ contribution to the 40-and-older supergroup resurgence.

Despite the significant contributions by its members in an earlier era, band is only slightly more than a ’70s throwback quintet, with its ex-Santana and Journey personnel serving up a tasteless brew of watered-down new songs and reheated old ones from their respective former bands.

Ouch, that review hurts. It's bad enough to hate on Bryan Adams, but they didn't even bother to name anyone else in The Storm- because they weren't big enough stars.

Oh and this website claims that there are 7 The Storm bootlegs out there:

The Storm
The Storm Live
Live On The Road
Eye of The Storm
The Very Best Of
Live at Waterfest '03
Live

And they claim to have a bunch of Journey boots and all kinds of other bands too.

I think it's just a coincidence. Adam Sandler is a common enough combination of names.

And Abitaman is a member here, of course he would be. He's holding out on these Storm Chasers, since I never hear bootleg talk about them.

Yes, because music rags like Rolling Stone were so so receptive and warm to Journey, right? I would be MORE surprised if you found a positive review of The Storm.

Final Frontiers, I think it's time you came clean about your personal issues regarding Kevin Chalfant. It's all you seem to ever post about. Disgruntled former roadie, perhaps?

Not true! I've posted about Journey on Carnival Cruises, Gregg Rolie's first solo album, singing competition contestants who might become rock stars, Robert Flesichman, Steve Augeri, all kinds of other stuff. I'm really just bored and like to do random internet searches. Like "Gregg Rolie & Steve Perry" or random stuff like that and see what comes up. You find the best crap the higher up the page count you go  . It did lead me here afterall :P . I, at least, had heard of The Storm (when Bad English was all over the place with "When I See You Smile"- just downloaded off Freegal :D ).

I started this thread originally because I was looking for JSS-Journey concert boots. I didn't think I'd find The Storm concert video or a full JSS-Journey concert video. But it surely must exist.

I'm thinking of moving on to random searches of Hardline (who I'd never heard of before coming here) if Neal was really married to the Gioelis' sister then there out to be some good dirt lying around  .

Have you watched the concert? What do you think? I couldn't find a single other Bryan Adams concert review that mentioned The Storm  . I find it highly ironic/amusing/aprops/whatever that Chalfant thinks of his show at the L.A. Forum was one of the highlights of his career and yet the Variety review says different  .

Watched parts of it. It reminded me that Herbie was 100% right and that KC was the guy to replace Perry. Such a natural. Also that The Storm was a pretty good band.

On that note...here's everybody's fav, JSS, playing with Hardline. I think, like alot of fans, I stopped following this band after Neal bailed.

Video also features Ramos. His style is so much like Schon's. I wonder if the two get along or have ever actually worked together.

I have a few length Journey shows on video with JSS.

The best recording is a near complete show from Baltimore which I had something to do with getting recorded. I've uploaded the whole thing to youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g2X_5SbzwU

There are also several full length audios. Some very good. Atlantic City show is a soundboard directly from the band that was given to Deano and shared between some of us over the years.
