Kiss Me Softly -

Postby jrnyman28 » Sat Jan 10, 2015 7:49 am

I work a PT gig at UPS at night. I jam my iPod throughout the shift but due to safety issues I can only have one headphone in. This rarely affects my listening barring a few acts like Queen and Pink Floyd, a couple of tracks by bands who experimented with channels, and my oldies that were recording each instrument in a different channel. The other night Kiss Me Softly came on and I noticed the absence of the tinkling piano in the intro. The more I listened, the more I realized that, minus an occasional distant-sounding synth riff, virtually all of the keys were absent. This really brought out Neal's guitars, both the acoustic-style rhythm work as well as the electric accompaniment and solos.

So if you're ever curious what a Journey tune might sound like without keys, listen to Kiss Me Softly with only the right channel headphone in.

Best Song on Arrival
Schon is in top form and Augeri's best vocals ever.

Or, you could always listen to most of the songs on Eclipse, where Cain's ivory tickling takes a huuuuge backseat.

Song reminds me a lot of Cain's solo work...Journey not so much.

No way. The chorus to "Happy to Give" is the gayest Journey related song ever. Hell, it's the gayest Melodicrock/AOR song ever.
