How incredibly cringeworthy.

Jon's vocals are pretty terrible here. The song itself sounds alright, so might be ok on the actual album. I do quite like cheesy Christian rock - not so much for the lyrics, but they always have a good singalong chorus.

That was painful to watch. I hope Jon doesn't think that's any sort of step up from performing with Journey

Who knew he was actually still alive? I assumed he'd been stuffed and wheeled out on stage based on the lack of movement and fan engagement on recent Journey tours

Agreed, I think though, that he thinks, he may be able to have some Christian Chart success... maybe he's right.

Still though, Journey not making new music just doesn't seem right.

I used to work at a Contemporary Christian radio station, and a song like that would probably get played.

I'm assuming the studio version would be much better though.

As a side bar, our local CC radio station in St Louis is playing the latest from Lincoln Brewster.

Good for Jon! I always believed music was from the heart. I suppose if this is the music that is in his heart to sing; then good for him! He doesn't have to impress anyone really; only himself and what sounds good to his heart!

OK, I'll get flamed for it and probably be accused of not being a Christian (I am) but that was simply awful. Forced, awkward and generic come to mind. Now before you start blasting me, I am a life long Journey fan and I also have a respectful collection of Christian music. Just because someone has a passion for something doesn't mean they do it well nor does it mean they 'should" do it. I'm not attacking the message, just the performance and this rates a zero or one at best. John, please step away from the mic, you can't sing brother. As for Deen, I am glad he is playing and supporting his friend. Good for him and I am proud of him for taking ownership of his challenges. I wish him recovery and success again.

I tend to give a pass for passion projects. There's no real money to be made for him in that situation. It's not like a Journey album where people buy it and then get 7 songs with Jon Cain vocals. So I take the no-harm no-foul approach. It's important to him. It's passionate for him. And we don't have to tune in. I personally did not care for it, but it's not something I would think to rate either.

I think the more important aspect (from our point of view and as you mentioned) is that he is showing support to Deen, giving him another another positive arrow in the quiver to build on. That's put action behind all those words and to me, that speaks volumes. So good for him and great for Deen and while I won't be watching or buying this stuff, I'm not really the intended audience.

He's allowed to for work related purposes. Seems like he's Jonathan's drummer now. As much as I'm not really a fan of this music (except the sort of atmospheric sounding guitar in the background), it's good to see Deen playing again. Just a little while ago he was saying in interviews that he didn't know if he'd ever play again. Hoped he would change his mind and it's good to see that he has.

Deen's comments on Twitter over the last couple of days about Jon and his wife being some of the very few that didn't "run away from him" was pretty powerful.

This is obviously much more than just about making music for both of them.

Then why couldn't he tour with Journey, this summer? (Or was his firing, strictly a PR move/for his benefit?)

Pretty interesting development with Jon and Deen here.
Jon was the one on Twitter venting about the number of chances Deen was given by the band.
But a classy move - and one in keeping with his new-found faith - to give Deen a helping hand.

Good question. I could see Journey management just wanting to wash their hands of him, but who knows. At any rate, seeing Jon still supporting him is awesome. Deen has always seemed like a genuine and passionate person who wants to do good in the world. Vices like the ones he had are absolutely crippling and mind-altering. Hopefully he never returns down that path

If they care about Deen, and I am sure they do, there is a big difference (especially for a drug addict) between playing at a religious event and a rock and roll tour.

For sure....I imagine there are far fewer temptations, and far fewer bad associations!! Just what Deen needs to get some self confidence back. Jon has done a good thing!

I don't think "venting" is accurate or fair. Cain simply replied to a person on Twitter about Deen having previous issues.
