So I realized after sitting on this song trying to make it perfect, I was doing pretty much what sometimes frustrates us about our favorite singer... so consider this sort of my rough equivalent of the the Missing You writing sessions. Don't think it requires much explanation - not for this group at least. You can let me know if this is one of those situations where I have to "allow myself to suck". Would certainly appreciate any thoughts - good or bad.
Anyway... here it is...

The Voice
He was never about the money
He was all about the chase
Once he got a taste for runnin'
He thought he'd never leave the race
But it turns on its own
As it grinds to the bone
And before we knew it he was done
CHORUS
He sang and the world seemed better when...
He sang, God it felt so right
People under street lights believin', believin', but
Where's the voice tonight?
Every now and then we see him
Going on about his life
Trying just to find some normal
Off the stage and out of sight
But there's just this one thing
He was put here to sing
And you can only fight it for so long
CHORUS
He sang and the world seemed better when...
He sang, God it felt so right
People under street lights believin', believin', but
Where's the voice?
BRIDGE
Meanwhile there behind the scenes
Bittersweet reality
No one gets a pass from the pain
So we hope that he is moving on
Hoping he might share a song
Cause we could use one now, oh cause
CHORUS
He sang did the world seem better when...
He sang, God it felt so right, and there's still
People under street lights believin', but wonderin'
Where's the voice? Where's the voice?
Where's the voice tonight?
Every now and then we see him
Going on about his life...
