Random thoughts.... possibly the best Stan Lee cameo yet! The heli-craft from the Avengers features into the climax, which is surprising as Fox does not have the rights to any of that Disney Avengers stuff. The downside...all of the fourth wall shattering jokes and pop culture zingers can't change the fact that the movie is a origin story with the obligatory damsel in distress getting kidnapped by a generic Eurotrash villain. That said, it was a lot of fun. The hit to miss joke ratio is uneven, but it doesn't matter. Also Colossus was pretty good. I was surprised how much the movie focused on Xmen and the Xmen universe. It is obvious Fox won't let the Xmen rights revert back to Marvel/Disney anytime soon. Wade Wilson could go toe to toe with Tony Stark and Star Lord any day. B+

Just got back from seeing Deadpool. I got my hopes up with this one. Judging by the reviews and the word of mouth, I really thought I would love it.

I guess my tastes are completely different than the majority of the audience's. It felt like the dialogue was takin straight out of joke books that referenced Dice man stand up comedy. It felt more like the superhero movie version of "scary movie" as it seemed to poke fun most of the time. Even with the Rated R, I wasn't expecting it to be that dark.

My favorite parts, hands down, were the scenes with Colosuss. That back and forth was well done and well written. Those scenes were the few times the movie felt like it had good chemistry between characters that wasn't trying hard to be the typical Ryan Reynolds comedy.

I enjoyed the action and kept thinking about a Wolverine Rated R movie the entire time...which could be the most brutal yet. That should be insane if Wolvie gets his R rated movie.

I give Deadpool a C. Some legit funny parts and slasher- action, but mostly forgettable. The rewatch factor is low so I probably won't have a desire to see it again anytime soon.

I really did not find it to be dark or slasher-esque. Deadpool does have a high body count, but the delivery is good natured. Not bleak. Sorta reminds me of Punisher War Zone, which also extremely violent but kept a tongue-in-cheek approach.

It was definitely tongue in cheek and the body count was just right for a Rated R Dead Pool. I had no problems with that as it made me excited for a Rated R Wolverine movie. The reviews and word of mouth made Deadpool sound more balanced though in tone. I just think the over use of humor in these movies isn't my thing and it takes me out of it in many ways where it clouds my overall judgement. One thing is for sure, though. Deadpool in the Xmen and possible adventures with them could be gold. The back and forth with Colosuss got that rise out of me. I liked the movie, just expected it to view better in the fun factor. The tone seemed darker than how people were critiquing. That was my initial feeling mid film. I will say, though, Deadpool is a great character to add to the mix with their X-universe. He's a different anti hero than Wolvie. His addition is a unique thing for Fox character wise.

I had low expectations overall, so maybe that is why I was pleasantly surprised. It's fun, but no classic.

I re-read your review above and I agree word for word with it. The only difference is like you said, the expectations and overall grade of the movie. Agreed that it was fun enough, but no classic. I think looking over at my wife despising it had a lot to do with my overall feelings towards it. I take back not seeing it again and will give it another go when it comes out on DVD.

The last trailer was the best. Loved the Batman sequence in the warehouse. Think this dude is on to something though.

MCWeeny, lol(he mentioned how this was a personal opinion piece and lashed out on fans about being too sensitive once WB announced the filming of Justice League).

DC/WB already debunked the nonsense by officially announcing the film dates of Justice League. This was the same dude that said DC had a "no jokes policy"; said Christian Bale would return as Batman as well as Joseph Gordon Levitt . The timing of the article was phenomenal, released only minutes after the last BvS trailer, which was universally loved and hyped. These writers with "unnamed sources" are just jumping aboard the hype train.

At this point, it's all what you want to believe. Just a few months ago, a screening took place at WB and the movie got a standing ovation, so what sources out there are telling the truth, what are deflections and what are click baits? Warner has greenlighted this entire Universe and is dead serious about it. Wonder Woman film is almost finished so by the time we get to JL:P1, we would have Man of Steel; Batman V Superman; Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman.

A worried studio doesn't go on national television and put together an hour long CW special to not only announce their JL slate, but concept art and interviews with the cast as well.

Relax fans; Batman V Superman won't flop, despite rumors

Mac-Wiener is a shill, plain and simple.

The release of the last BvS trailer (which I refuse to watch) unleashed a fresh wave of anti-DCEU journalism that is anything but coincidental.

It's as if Marvel's afraid the movie's going to steal some of Civil War's thunder.

Meh. I read the article that BvS was screened and the studio was worried about the reaction, basically saying the audience wasn't smart enough to "get what they're doing'. They're making excuses before the movie is even released...and excuses for problems I said existed, well, a very long time ago.

I think Deadpool raised the stakes for both BvS and Civil War. Suddenly there is another player at the table. And, the movie was better than what you all say...but that's irrelevant. The fact is the table is getting a bit crowded now...and the film that will be hurt by that is BvS since it is coming right after and will be compared to it, probably in an unfair way...but that's life.

And, I saw the new BvS trailer when I saw Deadpool. All they did was took the last trailer, made it more focused on Batman and a bit darker. So, in other words, they went back to promoting it as a "dark and serious" film...which the above reaction from the screening says the audience doesn't 'get'. Can't get more screwed up than this.

I can't remember what my original prediction was for the gross but I think I over-estimated now. I will guess $400-500million. And, Civil was at $600 - 700 million.

Just in time Monker 8) Atta boy. You know the above article is an opinion piece, right? In reality, there's really only a few people who saw the screening of BvS from the higher ups, to the cast. A lot of false information. I don't believe any of the screening stuff. Not the "standing ovation" crap or this. It's the typical editorial from the everyday online "journalist" with a blog with "sources of sources." There's no backbone. Regardless, all the talking is over. We're 30 days out. Put up or shut up from WB. Deadpool didn't raise the stakes for anybody but Fox and has nothing to do with BvS, which is still a month away (I already forgot about Deadpool.) Deadpool raised the stakes for the next Wolverine movie, though.

Yeah, Deadpool didn't "raise the stakes." It's simply another movie Fox made, and this time they actually made money because the production budget was a paltry 58 million.

Mac-Weenie is just talking to earn clicks.

I say you're wrong. A lot of what Deadpool does is to mock the entire comic book movie genre. Not only that but it was a lot more popular than what it seems was expected.

So, BvS coming right after is going to draw comparisons. And, in comparison, BvS is going to take itself WAY too seriously.

People sitting in the theater watching BvS won't be thinking about Deadpool whatsoever. There's no connection there. If anything, it will connected to Captain America: Civil War coming out down the line and the obvious comparison of team-up films between Marvel and DC. Deadpool won't be one of them in the comparison. Deadpool's existence right now is marked in the X-Men; Wolverine category...not Batman V Superman or even Civil War at that.

Nope, they each scratch a different itch. If The Force Awakens was released in the wake of Galaxy Quest 2: Electric Boogaloo, would you have said the same thing?

Ah, that's music to my ears. So what you're saying...is it's going to be different? Fantastic. Exactly what the genre needs. With Marvel's obvious popcorn humor in their Avengers Universe, let alone Guardians of the Galaxy's franchise with their sequel in the works and now Deadpool's movie over at Fox extending the humor side of things, BvS and the DCEU is in a good place and will be just that...different and that's essentially what is good news for CBM's and the over-saturation of the market. The DCEU will give us that fresh look into what's lurking on the other side...and we all win.
