I have no dog in the #BvS hunt, but a lot of these reviews feel written in advance by people who hate the grim Snyder tone & wanted to vent.

The Force Awakens is divisive among fans but loved by critics. Quite certain at this point #BatmanvSuperman is the opposite.

The_Noble_Cause wrote:Negative reviews are comparing it to "Batman & Robin" and "Green Lantern." Even MOS defenders, like Drew McWeeny, are bashing the hell out of it. I'm not a huge Snyder fan, but I really doubt he would deliver a complete misfire.

"I'm disappointed to see the reaction to #BatmanvSuperman. I went in expecting not to like it, but I loved it. Make your own mind up on Fri!"
If you're excitedly waiting to see Flash, Cyborg or Aquaman in action, temper those expectations. The film does stop dead, right before the big fight by the way, to gratuitously tease Justice League in the dullest, more boring way possible: via email. No shit. Email and computer files. There's nothing woven into the narrative that would fold these folks in. Hell, they barely shoe-horn Wonder Woman into the story. Because of that I can't understand seeing this movie as anything but a typical franchise setter-upper. I mean, all of these kinds of movies are these days and I don't fault Warners and DC for going for gold like Marvel has, but c'mon guys. Put a little more creativity into it. At least in the very problematic Age of Ultron Vision has a story-based reason for being introduced into the universe.

Monker wrote:Anyway, I would now be a bit concerned where DC is going to take this. It SEEMS like BvS is going to be mediocre for sales, IMO Suicide Squad is going to sell even less.
And they keep going to the same dry well. I think the worst thing that ever happened to D.C. may have been the success of Nolan's TDK trilogy. They keep trying the same formula and they keep failing.Monker wrote:Somebody better really consider what the plan is, and what it should be, because what they are doing right now is not selling....
Plus, they already shot their wad by putting the big 3 together already. Who's going to look forward to throwing in Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman into the mix with little to no backstory. D.C. just never fails to disappoint. I was so hoping for a great Superman movie with Returns and MOS, They just can't deliver. I can't help heading into this thinking that it's going to suck. I'm lowering my expectations too, and they were low from the get go.Monker wrote:ABvS will do OK because of the title and such, but if this one disappoints, evenyone will be even more skeptical of Justice League.

'Batman v Superman,' with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, is a gritty superhero showdown
As directed by Zack Snyder, the two-hour, 33-minute "Batman v Superman" does go on too long and lingers more than it should, as Snyder's "Man of Steel" did before it, on its climactic action set pieces.
But the director, a strong technician whose slam-bang emphatic, occasionally operatic style seems made for comic book adaptations, has been well-served by an adept script co-written by Chris Terrio (an Oscar winner for Ben Affleck's "Argo") and David S. Goyer, which raises a number of interesting issues.

Already sank to 79%. I think it'll drop much lower when the average movie goer starts seeing it.

Based on how many ratings? A ton of people on IMDb and other forums are chiming in, saying they liked/loved it.
The DCEU is NOT being rebooted.
“I’m a comic book guy and I made the movie based as much as I could on that aesthetic,” Snyder told us, “And so I don’t know how else to do it 100%, so it is what it is.”
