10 ‘Is This Love’ Whitesnake

9 ‘Can’t Fight This Feeling’ REO Speedwagon

8 ‘Rough Boy' ZZ Top

7 ‘I’ll Be There For You’ Bon Jovi

6 ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ Foreigner

5 ‘Drive’ The Cars

4 ‘Angel’ Aerosmith

3 ‘Open Arms' Journey

A one-band hit-making factory in the '80s, Journey scored their highest-charting song in 1982 with 'Open Arms,' which expresses the pleas of a spurned lover looking for forgiveness after some sort of wrongdoing. The song is a timeless classic that's been covered by everybody from Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men to an endless stream of 'American Idol' contestants. But Journey, of course, do Journey better than anybody, and their version is often considered one of the greatest love songs of all time.

2 ‘Bringing on the Heartbreak’ Def Leppard

1 ‘Sister Christian’ Night Ranger

Personally, it's not my favourite ballad. Faithfully is higher on my list, among others. Still, at least they made the list :D

I agree. I don't really care for "Open Arms" at all and prefer "Faithfully", "When You Love a Woman", or "Send Her My Love" more.

I love Neal's playing on Faithfully. But as an overall ballad I prefer "Open Arms."
But IMO the greatest Rock ballad is Survivor's "The Search Is Over." I've even read things that make it pretty obvious that Steve Perry was always jealous of Survivor's "The Search Is Over."
In some ways I prefer Foreigner's "Waiting For A Girl Like You" more than I do IWTKWLI. I always wished that they had left out the choir, and most of all, left out Jennifer Holliday! They kind of ruin an otherwise great song for me.

I love both Night Ranger and their song "Sister Christian" but IMO "Open Arms" should be listed ahead of "Sister Christian."

I'm very happy to see "Open Arms" "Sister Christian" "Drive" "I Want To Know What Love Is" And "Is This Love" on the list.
But some others that I think should be in the running by bands not listed in the article, in no particular order are......
Loverboy: "This Could Be The Night" & "I Can See The Heaven In Your Eyes"
Boston: Amanda
Styx: "Lady" & "Babe"
Giant: I'll See You In my Dreams
Mr Big: To Be With You
Heart: "These Dreams" & "Alone"
Bad English: When I See You Smile

And Toto should probably make the list with some song too.

And of course, Journey, Survivor and Foreigner are worthy of having songs that were not on the list be on the list.

And after I've typed all of this, I remembered that the list is supposed to be of 80's songs. And a few of these that I named weren't 80's songs.
