Not to be picky, your post was spot on, but I think you meant to say " water under the bridge ".  :D
Just thought I'd mention it before TNC jumps all over it.

Maybe he is really chapped about his band being sidelined for a decade, all of the lost money they could have made, the restrictions put on him by the agreement with Perry to get his band back, and having to tour like a band of traveling gypsies for the past 18 years to get back a piece of what he lost. So he takes a jab at Perry every time he is asked about a reunion and he feels a little better. Who really knows? We still have the music.

Maybe, could be ...
But I think he has said he has moved on and is happy now.
So if that's true ... why keep bringing up ' the door is always
open' ?
But like you said we still have the music.

Or maybe Neal really means "the door is always open." Gee, ever think of that? It's funny, Rolie has popped in from time to time and performed. Smitty has sat in. I believe Fleischman sang Wheel in the Sky with Augeri after the HOF ceremony. Has anybody questioned the meaning of "the open door" invite as it pertains to those guys? Of course not. Their fans are sane. I think the open invitation just pisses Perry fans off because they know Perry won't show up and it places the ball squarely in his court - where it has been since he left the band. Stop projecting a sinister agenda on Neal's part because Perry is too busy milking cats' prostates in his mansion. To paraphrase Billy Shatner on SNL, GET A FUCKIN LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again, prove that Neal is the one bringing it up. In 99.999% of all cases, he is asked about Perry and that is his textbook classy response. Your characterization of Neal bringing up Perry to spike interest in the band is baseless. Stop lying asshole.

You have no idea what the other band members had to deal with on a personal level. The VH1 BTM didn't show it and you don't care either. The whole thing was The Steve Perry Show.

Wow. OK. Step away from the keyboard.

First, I have a life. It is not based on anything that transpires here or with Journey. I post here from time to time because I find it somewhat interesting. Characters like you who blow up and make assumptions about others who post here keep it interesting. So no need to worry about me.

Second, I think that it is quite probable that Neal means that the door is always open. I haven't kept up on everything Neal has been asked or spoken about the band in the past 20 years, so I can't say that anyone has ever asked him if Rolie, Fleischman, or Smitty (or Dunbar, Tickner, Baird, Jackson, et. al.) was ever welcome to come perform. I assume that he has been asked this and has responded yes to the three that you mentioned since they have performed with the band. Neal seems to me like the kind of guy who will play with just about anyone because he loves music. That isn't a jab at him, just that he LOVES to play, is great at it, and probably would continue to do it even if he never made another dime doing it.

I have played music for more than 40 years, and have many great friends who make a living teaching, selling and playing music. I know the kind of hold that composing, rehearsing and performing can get on you. I have seen people every bit as talented as SP or Neal playing a variety of instruments from piano to tuba for no reason other than their love of it. So, I would expect that Neal might have no problem if SP really showed up one night and said "Can I sing"? Or, the little devil on the other side which sometimes gets ahold of all of us might think differently. Either way, it's Neal's band, so he can do what he wants.

Next, I am not a Perry apologist by any means. Love his singing, that's about it. How he conducts his personal and business affairs as conjectured here and other forums is interesting to me only in that I love to watch people and try to understand what makes them tick. Sorry if that bursts your bubble and takes the venom out of your "upset Perry Fan" stereotype.

I appreciate your thoughts, though. It keeps this place interesting.

This was an interview. I guess you think Neal broke into a news station, grabbed a mic, and started blabbing about Perry? How does this prove anything? What it proves is that Neal keeps getting dogged about Perry returning.

tater1977 wrote:July 11, 2014

Neal “The door has always been open. I’ve approached him to work on a couple of things with me that were not even Journey-oriented, but he wasn’t interested in doing it. It’s fine, man. I wish him well and he says that he wishes us well.”

“He’s said numerous times now that there’s no reunion and that he’s not interested in doing anything like that.”

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/neal-sch ... y-journey/

Once again, this was an interview. Did Neal bring up Perry? No. The interviewer's question (which you conveniently omitted) was -

"Here’s a delicate question and it’s out of curiosity, not gor gossip. You guys are on a great path with Arnel, but will Steve Perry fit into Journey’s world anymore?"

Odd how you don't include the interview question to make it seem as if Neal was the one bringing Perry up. You are one slimy deceitful piece of work, aren't you?

tater1977 wrote:Doesn't Schon get it ? Perry says 'NO' .

Schon just needs to tell ALL interviewers / fans NO.
But he won't. Why ?
Is he afraid of losing what, like maybe a few fans ?
Seriously, tell me why he just won't come out each and
every time and tell E1 NO ?

Neal has told people multiple times that Perry's not coming back. If you go on his FB, he says as much on a near weekly basis.

tater1977 wrote:All's Schon has to do is shut the open door to inviting Perry to
join them anytime.

Lmao. Riiiiight, I'm sure that would make all of you crazed freaks simply go away. It's not like you're obsessed or anything.

tater1977 wrote:According to Schon himself -
They sell out a lot.
They are having great tours.
Making great money.
Are now a world band.

That's excellent news, they worked hard.

This is all true. Neal re-built the brand as Perry continued to fade into self-imposed anonymity. It was a big gamble and it paid off more than anyone expected. No amount of blaming Neal is going to make Perry want to return to the limelight or deal with truly deranged psychotics like you, tater salad.

It's printed in black and white before your eyes .

“The door has always been open, like I’ve said a zillion times,” Schon pointed out during a recent interview with ABC News Radio. “People ask me every day, ‘Are you reuniting?’ Steve says, ‘No,’ and I say, ‘You never know.'”

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/neal-sch ... h-journey/

When Schon gets asked about a reunion with 'Perry' ...
I'm sorry I guess I don't hear him saying ... ' Rolie, Fleischman, Augeri and Smitty ' names mentioned
when he gets asked about a reunion question with 'Perry' .

Again - “People ask me every day, ‘Are you reuniting?’ Steve says, ‘No,’ and I say, ‘You never know.'”

You can cry and whine all you want, all I'm saying is if Schon wanted to quit with
the 'hijackers' on their FB pages , just tell interviewers / fans and whomever
else ... NO Reunion with Perry .
FB does have a block button on it, for ' hijackers' .

Maybe if Schon started saying 'NO Reunion with Perry', people would get the
hint and quit asking him about it.

I would think Schon would have learned to change it as you call it ' his textbook response '
years ago, wouldn't you ?

If you could get past your anger and name calling ,
could you explain why Schon won't say it ?
And this is in re/ to 'the door is opened to Perry' .
Not talking about anyone else here... just Perry.

Why won't Schon say it ?

1.Because he is open to it.
2. He thinks it yanks Perry's chain to keep saying it.
3. He thinks it will keep up interest in his band by the casual fan.
4. Who knows?

Neal is an awesome musician, no doubt. Stories about decisions he has made over the years make me think that he isn't stupid, but also isn't a genius. He may not realize the implications of not saying no when asked. Or he may realize it and keeps playing the game.

It may be as simple as if you ask him a question, he gives you an honest answer because that is what he is thinking at the time. No ulterior motives, just his answer. No thought to the ongoing drama played out here, just his answer.

Regardless, he has been pretty consistent in his response over the years, just as Perry has seemed to settle in on it ain't happening. Besides, if Neal says no, what are we going to argue about?

Neal Schon: Don't hold your breath.

November 24th on Neal's Facebook

Neal Schon: He's not interested in dusting himself off.

The original question was posed by ME asking YOU to back up your allegation that Neal mentions Perry to drum up business for Journey. And I'm STILL asking that question and I'm STILL waiting for an answer. Your "proof" amounted to out-of-context Neal quotes from interviews where Neal was asked about Steve Perry. You proved nothing except what a dishonest backpedaling piece of shit you are.

Once again, saying that "Schon gets fans posting on his FB about bringing SP back" is not an opinion.
Saying that "Schon does this at the start of every tour" is also not an opinion.
Those are lies. And you couldn't back them up. Retreat downstairs to the sanctuary of the Perry forum with like-minded undiscriminating asshammers.

Here is the Tater Salad quote that started it all -

"One of the main reasons Schon gets fans posting on his FB and Journey's
FB page about bringing SP back ... is because he invites/loves the 'drama'
it creates. Like his latest 'stunt' with Santana saying he dreams of him and
Schon going to Fresno to get Perry.
The drama it creates... he loves it and at the same time stirs up interest
that possibly SP will make a surprise visit....
Schon does this at the start of every tour.
But I guess it's also a way to generate revenue .. sell them tickets.
Not saying this is the only reason folks buy tickets, but I'm willing
to bet a lot are."

Funny, I don't recall talk of a Perry reunion at the start of Vacation's Over or Under the Radar or the Main Event or the Detour tour. I defy you to back this shit up. Still waiting....

It's not a new tangent. Those are names of tours the band has embarked on since re-grouping. Since you said: "Schon does this at the start of every tour." Which, again, is a total lie.

At this point, I just pity your retarded ass. I've had more lucid conversations with AOL Instant Messenger Bots back in the 90s.

If James Woods can sue people on Twitter for calling him a coke head, I hope Neal considers taking legal action against you. Better start kissing your most treasured belongings goodbye. No room at the homeless shelter for all those black velvet Perry paintings and hand-crocheted Perry doilies. Your entire net worth is equal to what's inside the dumpster at Jo-Ann Fabrics.
