That was the best possible way to introduce Arthur. That was poetry in motion. Momoa is going to shut everyone up pretty fast here.

Totally sold on Ezra as Flash. That was a great scene. Very smart of them to not show Steppenwolf. We did see Flash dodge a bolt of energy.

Looks like there may be a good amount of humour in JL. Wonder where they got that idea. I know you hate that kind of stuff in superhero movies YJ. You still going to see it?

I also wonder where they go that idea. I also wonder why Marvel Comics has so many Batman rip-offs in their stable. Marvel also ripped off the Flash and Green Arrow.

Zack Snyder's tone is still in place. He didn't deviate much from his style. He only adjusted it and that's what was needed. Aquamoa brings the toughness and element of fear. The badassery. Even Cyborg brings an element of seriousness that Marvel can't come close to pulling off. In the JL teaser, the humor is in the right places. If you know anything about certain characters like Barry Allen and his relationship with Bruce Wayne, it's spot on accurate and not overboard. Marvel adds in humor for the sake of it because it's their cheesy standard of a status quo. There are parts in their movies where the situation doesn't call for it but they bring the straight edge belly-laugh of a segment anyway and it's awful. Humor is good as long as its true to the source material with the right characters, which is seen in the trailer with Barry Allen/Flash. It's simply rooted in his personality to bring that type of difference to the team, who are more grounded in seriousness. Ben's Batman and Bruce Wayne is spot on and the humor is being used correctly; not goofy or like Comedy Central's 3:00 am re-run's of the Chappelle Show during dark death scenes.

Yep. As soon as Gal was cast, the thing that stuck out to me about her was how tough she was. She was always fierce in her 'Fast' movies and always kept up with her stunts and what not. She's known to get down and dirty behind the scenes. It will be tough to find a stunt double that has Gadot's body type if she ever needs one to step in. WonderGal is that exotic in her appearance and stature.

That's a key deciding factor for me when it comes to casting Wonder Woman, and why I was never for Charlize Theron (she's cool, but come on, she's totally wrong) for the role. Gal has the looks, the height, the attitude. She got hated on, and now she's putting the haters in their corners. Or rather, the haters are seeing the light.

Patty Jenkins said Gal was gung ho during the entire process, running around in below-40-degree weather as WW while the crew stood around in their parkas.

Btw, I thought Zack had huge cojones to show us Cyborg sans any CGI-sweetening in that sizzle reel.

What a bunch of hypocrisy.

I made the same argument for Ant-Man, that it is a character that CAN'T be taken seriously and the humor was obviously going to be there. But, you two STILL critiqued it. It is very obvious that you two are far too invested in the success of DC to make any unbiased opinion about the subject.

BvS failed to meet expectation. It should be expected that WB *REQUIRES* more of a pivot towards what Marvel has successfully done. Whether that be Suicide Squad being reshot to be less dark, or Justic Legaue starting out being just as full of humor as the Avengers, DC is following in Marvel's path. A path that Marvel not only founded, but paved and added road signs to...road signs that point the way to $'s.

That shot is actually horrible. The shield is not large enough. It exposes her knees, which you can see sparks on her leg armor. It also exposes her mid-rift, due to how she is holding it. So, unless she has the skin of Superman, she should be ripped in half. And, towards the end, she is lifting the shield away, exposing even more of her body - WHILE SPARKS are still flying off her knees.

But, thankfully, I'm sure it is just "written that way."

Never saw Ant-Man. Never critiqued Ant-Man. I don't critique something I've never seen (unlike some people.) Difference is, you can take Flash seriously. He literally changes space time continuum and effects the DC Universe's Multiverse. He's going to have a huge impact to the rules of this Universe. You're right. Ant-Man will never be takin serious (Marvel Studio proved this by not wanting anything to do with him when it came to an original Avenger) and is ONLY there for comedic relief. He was a shadow in Age of Ultron. Flash is going to be a HUGE presence to the DCEU and will bring the natural humor built into his personality. They don't need a Paul Rudd-esq actor (and I love Paul Rudd) to hammer that over our head, just like Marvel does with their humor. But you already knew that. Ant-Man has little to no significance in the grand scheme of things other than special 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" effects. That's it.

Been a member since 2002 and STILL not happy with your post-count I see  Possibly the worst case of Fanboy critique I've ever came across. Talk about biased hypocrisy? You're all walking flavors of that and that's an understatement.

Whether that be Suicide Squad being reshot to be less dark

or Justic Legaue starting out being just as full of humor as the Avengers
,

Lets not go that far. You don't cast Jason Momoa to go into a camp-like Avengers direction. It's just not going to happen. DC is staying true to their tone (even James Waan said he's bringing his horror element to Aquaman.) All they're doing is adding more levity and fun. It's the correct balance, not an overhaul. The dark undertones will always be there.

A path that Marvel not only founded

Baha! Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. You can't be that Marvel-braindead. Oh wait, yes you can. If you want to start that, then credit Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy for the success's of Marvel bringing us their version of Batman to Marvel Studio's. If Nolan didn't want a closed Bat-universe, DC would of been well ahead. It gave Marvel a chance to brighten things up and give a tone opposite of Nolan's films; one they didn't even expect to be this successful. And Marvel didn't invent comedy in superhero movies. In fact, they were only piggy-backing off of Sony's Spider-Man movies that were already well established. Lets not get it twisted. They aren't pioneers. They just set a new market and had the time to build it.

BvS failed to meet expectation.

Atleast it had expectation. So does Wonder Woman, SSquad and Justice League. About 95% of Marvel films outside the Avengers franchise have very low to moderate expectations. People know what they're getting and are in and out of the theater with pop-corn smeared all over their face. The expectation is lowered so much that the GA is content with watching the same movie over and over, as long as it has humor and fast paced action. That's it. The expectation for the DCEU is to create something we haven't already seen. Big difference.

Come on 8) We all know Superman III is saved by the FANTASTIC junkyard fight between Clark Kent and Evil Superman no matter how GOD AWFUL the first 2 hours of the movie was. As bad as the film was up to that point, Reeve showed his versatility and acting tops with the character. As classic as it gets.

I. Warner Bros. made Superman and Batman films for 20 years before a quality film (not a TV throwaway) featuring a Marvel character appeared, that being Blade, produced by Fox.

Ia. Blade appeared as the first major Marvel Comics film property (unless you want to count Howard the Duck) after the publisher sold off film rights to a number of characters in order to weather a major bankruptcy. That's why you see no "Marvel Studios" film until 2008.

II. There were only Superman and Batman films made by WB, along with Supergirl, Steel, and a pair of Swamp Thing films — from 1978-1998 because the head honchos in charge didn't want to bother with any other characters. However, the Supergirl movie's set in the same "universe" as the Superman films, but they removed a photographic reference to Superman/Clark in the film.

III. In the 2000s, Warner Brothers, Sony, and to a lesser extent, Fox, enjoyed box office success with the Nolan Batman films, the Raimi Spider-Man films, and a few films set within the X-Men universe (some of them don't set the box office on fire). A Superman quasi-reboot takes up space till Zack Snyder's reboot. Sony reboots Spider-Man five years after SM3. Green Lantern bombs in 2010.

IV. Marvel Studios finally follows suit with Iron Man in 2008, because they're tired of Sony/Columbia and Fox making money off their properties (LOL). They rush an admittedly inferior sequel, but it still made plenty of money to keep the proverbial ball rolling.

So tell me...what "roads" did Marvel really pave?
