The last time Perry ever sang these songs was February 1, 1987. Expecting a 68-year-old man to perform songs he last sang 30 years ago at age 38 is a little much.

It's not about how well he'd have sung anyway...look at how poorly AP sang.
It's about reconciling with the band, paying respect to the music, and giving something
special back to the fans!
He missed the ultimate opportunity to do that...and I'm pissed off about it.
Deal with it!

Well, actually he was singing them on tour in 1994/1995.
I don't think that anyone was being ridiculous enough to think that Perry or anyone else (In their late 60's) for that matter could sing those songs the same as he did in the 1980's?
They could have tuned down for him. Which they did offer to do.

Showing up to your own homage? Oh wow... the guy did a big effort, huh?![]()
B*tch, please... Facts, not words. That's what was needed here... I'm tired of his bullsh*t discourse of loving the fans and blahblahblah... Assume it! He doesn't give a f*ck about the fans.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that he doesn't care about his fans. But I will say that in my opinion he put his own ego ahead of his fans in this case.
I believe that his ego would either not allow him to risk potentially sounding bad, or that his ego would not allow him to perform with his former band-mates who he resents for moving on without him.

He can't just get up there when they're ready to do a song with Arnel and have Arnel hand him the mic and just continue like that.
UNLESS his voice is in better shape than people (including me) have been speculating (yeah... right). Then he, theoretically COULD do this. I still say, the band should start "Lights", then stop, and then go into "Just the Same Way" with Gregg. I don't need to hear lights again and I would LOVE to see Greg AND Steve. wow. Mind blown.

As per Uncle Joe, who is in touch with him...so it seemed...yes, in fact he said it is nearly as good as when he was with Journey. That's saying a lot.
