They said that the audio file they were using to transcribe was difficult to hear so they couldn't make out some things. Makes sense. There was a lot of screaming going on when Journey was up there.

Oh crap, and I misspelled your name in a thread about typos! Sorry, Lora!!!

OMG! poor Andy. I hope he will be able to live with it. I would hate to see a promising career, like his, fall to the wayside over something like this.scarab wrote:The biggest oversight of all the speeches was not to give props to Andy Avery.![]()

After so long, it's surreal that it's actually happened. It's wonderful to see Perry and the other former members there after many years of ambivalence towards getting together.
I do feel a huge cloud was cast over the event with the absence of Steve A and Deen. There would be no modern day Journey without them. They belonged there. To hear Perry praise Arnel and not Augeri or even JSS really stung.
Good for the members that got an award, I guess. I'm left feeling disappointed/pissed. Rant over.
It's good to see some familiar screen names here.

We've been over this here quite a bit. Augeri, Arnel, and Deen have done nothing to shape music in the way the Hall is looking for. They have helped Journey and really only Journey. That does not qualify anyone for anything. They were not present at the time Journey was affecting the music industry and that's what the award was for. In my opinion, they got the right guys up there.
As for Steve's shout out to Arnel, he's the guy there now. I am sure if Deen or Augeri were there, he'd have mentioned them. Hell, most of the members that toured and recorded with them didn't mention them. How Steve Perry not giving a shout out to past members he's never even met is a burn I don't get.

Perry met Augeri and Deen at the 2005 HOF event.
Regarding what the HOF finds relevant, Aynsley has been on only one Perry-era album. Augeri and Deen have been on exactly as much Journey studio output as Aynsley. (Four albums counting the Armageddon soundtrack)
I'll also remind people of the 2001 live dvd being a top cdnow best seller and "With Your Love" from Arrival doing well on the Adult Contemporary charts.
Haha, I drifted away from current Journey goings on for a few years after Eclipse and forgot how much I enjoyed debates like this.
