Chicago just got another Cetera/Scheff replacement. They should be good for a little while.

But, they have never been able to replace Terry Kath.

Make Me Smile, Free, Dialogue, Colour My World ...
It's more than 1 hit. But yes, the average fan doesn't notice. Loved Kath, loved his documentary. Never quite got the "OMG - if Terry had lived, he'd be flying around in a superman cape, curing cancer, stopping wars and rescuing Timmy from the well" worship some fans had. As immensely talented as he was, no one can live up to that worship.

Or in Kath's case, he'd have left and his former bandmates would be trashing him/trying to pretend he was never there or did anything like every other former member of Chicago.

It is rumored that Hendrix said Terry was better than he.

Cetera is the one who they haven't been able to replace. Scheff used a falsetto to emulate Cetera's voice. Was never the same, as Cetera is considered the voice of Chicago for the most part. Certainly the most recognizable.

And Kelty should be in Journey. That dude KILLS it.
