Seems kind of stupid to part ways before a farewell tour. If they are really saying farewell, there is no future in that move. What is the point? Don't fracture the stone, man...

Some reports say he was fired, not quit.

Seems there must be more to the story if there are such conflicting reports.

My local classic rock station reported that one of the rumors floating around is that Lindsey wanted to do a solo tour before going out with Fleetwood Mac. Apparently Stevie Nicks said screw that we will go on with out you. Oh the band dramas.

Fleetwood Mac Announce First Tour With New Members, Address Lindsey Buckingham's Departure

After the unceremonious firing of longtime guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, Fleetwood Mac have announced a North American tour featuring the two guitarists hired to replace him: Crowded House’s Neil Finn and The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell.

The 50-plus city tour is set to kick off on Oct. 3 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., and stretch through spring 2019, concluding with an April 5 stop in Philadelphia. Tickets go “on sale on Friday, May 4, at 10 a.m. local time via the band’s website.

In addition to unveiling the dates, the group spoke with Rolling Stone about their sudden split with Buckingham. Stevie Nicks revealed that the upcoming tour led to the guitarist’s ouster, saying, “We were supposed to go into rehearsal in June and he wanted to put it off until November [2019].” She added (somewhat ironically given the lyrics to one of Buckingham’s best-known Fleetwood Mac vocals), “Why would we stop? We don’t want to stop playing music. We don’t have anything else to do. This is what we do.”

Drummer Mick Fleetwood bristled at the term “fired” being used to describe Buckingham’s departure, though he didn’t dispute it, telling RS: “Words like ‘fired’ are ugly references as far as I’m concerned. Not to hedge around, but we arrived at the impasse of hitting a brick wall. This was not a happy situation for us in terms of the logistics of a functioning band. To that purpose, we made a decision that we could not go on with him. Majority rules in term of what we need to do as a band and go forward.”

As a collective, the band noted in a statement that “Fleetwood Mac has always been a creative evolution,” and of course Buckingham was not an original member. Fleetwood said of Buckingham’s replacements, “Fleetwood Mac has always been about an amazing collection of songs that are performed with a unique blend of talents. We jammed with Mike and Neil and the chemistry really worked and let the band realize that this is the right combination to go forward with in Fleetwood Mac style. We know we have something new, yet it’s got the unmistakable Mac sound.”

Christina McVie commented on the addition of Campbell and Finn as well, telling RS, “I immediately felt like I’d known them for years even though we’d only just met.”

Along with the tour, the group is launching the Fleetwood Mac Channel on Sirius XM beginning May 1, featuring music, interviews and hosted shows from current and former band members.
