I'm happy with the reserved seats I got this morning. The floor is GA standing (no way). The elevated loge seats weren't even available in today's pre-sale unless you wanted to purchase a Platinum Ticket for at least $100 over the base $65 ticket price (also, no way). So I got the front row of the mezzanine, which is directly behind the loge for $65 + $12.75 + $4.60 = $82.35. No one can stand in front of me and I don't have to stand.

I once was convinced to see a band (and opening act) that I was pretty clueless to.
It was at the legendary First Ave in MPLS which is pretty much 99% GA.
First stood in line for 1+ hour outside on a cold day, then when let in everybody running to get up close.
Luckily was able to convince my GF at the time to go to the upper level where we actually got a spot along the railing, but still stood. First band didnt come on for at least a half hour. then an 1hour set list followed by a 90 minute.
From 6-10PM standing and listening to an Alt rock band and at the time I was broke as hell so no 10 dollar beers to ease the sorrow.
I was hurting the next day and week.
Sucks getting old.

Me and the Mrs are going to the Fox/Oakland show. Also sprung for the seated balcony seats. It is an amazing theater, excellent sound too.

NEAL SCHON Extends 'Open Invitation' To STEVE PERRY To Join Him At 'Journey Through Time' Shows

Neal Schon has extended an “open invitation” to Steve Perry to join him at his upcoming “Journey Through Time” shows at the end of next month.

Launched last year, “Neal Schon’s Journey Through Time” sees Schon regrouping with original JOURNEY and SANTANA member Gregg Rolie — as well as ex-JOURNEY drummer Deen Castronovo, bassist Marco Mendoza of THE DEAD DAISIES and THIN LIZZY, a musician named Chris Collins (on guitar and keyboards) and super-producer Marti Frederiksen (multi-instrumentalist, vocals) — for a set of classic and rarely performed songs from the JOURNEY catalog.

“Neal Schon’s Journey Through Time” will play a warm-up show on February 22 at the Jackson Rancheria Casino in Jackson, California before officially kicking off its tour on February 23 at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California.

On Monday, Schon took to his Twitter account to let the former JOURNEY singer know that he is welcome to come up on stage at either of the upcoming concerts.

“Here’s an Open invitation to Steve Perry to come out on ether the 22nd or 23rd would love to see you Steve,” the guitarist wrote.

Last October, Perry told Rolling Stone that he couldn’t imagine working with Schon in any capacity again or even re-establishing their friendship.

The singer, who originally left JOURNEY more than three decades ago, made his comments in response to Neal‘s frequent public calls for a renewed collaboration.

“I’m not sure that’s possible without stirring up hopes of a reunion,” Perry said. “Please listen to me. I left the band 31 fucking years ago, my friend. You can still love someone, but not want to work with them. And if they only love you because they want to work with you, that doesn’t feel good to me.”

Last summer, Schon told the Detroit Free Press that he would love to collaborate with Perry on an R&B-style project. “I think Steve has an amazing, soulful voice, and I know he loves R&B,” the guitarist said. “I don’t think he’d ever want to do a JOURNEY record again. It’s just too hard. [The notes are] way, way up there, and last time I heard him sing, his voice was a lot lower. But it was still very soulful. You can sing R&B and soul music and not need five octaves in your voice. [With JOURNEY], he set the bar so high for himself and for anyone else.”

Perry reunited with JOURNEY for the first time in years as they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2017. The iconic singer appeared onstage with his former bandmates as they each gave speeches, but did not perform with the group later in the event.

During his speech, Perry praised each of JOURNEY musicians as well as the band’s current singer, Arnel Pineda, who was not being inducted into the Rock Hall. “I must give a shoutout to a man who sings his heart out every night, Arnel Pineda,” Perry said.

Perry‘s final full concert with JOURNEY took place in early 1987. He later rejoined his bandmates for a brief performance in 1991 to honor late concert promoter Bill Graham. He also appeared with JOURNEY when they received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 2005.

New music is more great news. But as far as Deen's post about making new JTT music in Nashville, he didn't mention Gregg. Is Gregg going to be part of recording new songs? I'd love an album, but I'll take an EP, a few singles, whatever.

If Steve Perry was a jerk, he could tell Neal he wanted to do a new Journey album or even a blues album or anything, and Neal would cancel the Journey Through Time tour in a quick second.

Steve Perry won't do that, but he could if he wanted. Neal needs to just rock on without Perry.

Really want to get over to the States to catch JTT. I was hoping they would be announcing dates quite a few months in advance. Hoping they announce some more shows for late April+ otherwise it won't happen for me

I would think the smaller venues would eat something like this up given the other acts they book. So there may be issues on the other side regarding what they think they should be drawing.

I would love to see JTT headline shows at the same size venues that Bad English were headlining shows at when they first started their tour. One thousand to two thousand seat venues.

Absolutely agree. A smaller venue with that type of music would be great. One of the best shows I've seen was a few years back, Toto came to a local casino and played to about maybe 1,000 people. It was fantastic.

I'm hopeful that the tour picks up steam and they start booking dates outside of the west coast. I'd drive several hours if needed.

I want to hear Gregg Rolie sing lead vocals on Wheel In The Sky. It would be fresh and different, and it would sound cool. They could also include this new version on their new album as a bonus track or something.

Journey/Survivor- Hopefully they do come to Cleveland. I posted that on Twitter once and Neal responded with a thumbs up, so hopefully that's a good sign! Where do you think they should play? I'm thinking the Rocksino or if it is in the summer Nautica. Since I live in Akron, I'd absolutely love it if they'd come to the Akron Civic Theater!
